reliantontheirmobileswhentravelling,withthemajority(60%)regardingtheir
mobilesasindispensable.

interactwiththeirmobileswhenonthemove,revealingthatphonesarethe
highestpriorityitemforpeopletotakewiththemastheyleavethehouse
(60%).Themajorityofconsumersareusingtheirmobilephonestostay
constantlyconnectedandupdated-inrealtime-wherevertheyare-around
twothirds(65%)checktheiremailsbothbeforeandduringtravel.Almostthree
quarters(69%)usetheirdailycommutetolistentomusic,watchvideosor

» GSMA’sGlobalMobileMoneyAdoptionsurveyfor2012revealedthat224
milliontransactions,totalling$4.6billion,wereprocessedonmobilemoney
platformsinfourAfricancountriesinonemonth.
» ThesurveybyGSMAanalysesthestateofthemobilemoneyindustryin
2012,andshowsconsiderablegrowthinthenumberofactivemobilemoney
users.
» Morethan30millionpeopleundertook224.2milliontransactionstotalling$4.6
billionduringthemonthofJune2012alone.Thisexceedsthe196.3million
transactionsperformedbyPaypalcustomersonaverageeachmonthduring
thethirdquarterof2012.

the2012resultsoftheAllMediaandProductsSurvey. AMPSDec2012
showsfewsignificantaudiencemovements,withstabilitytheoveralltrendfor
SouthAfrica’smediaproducts.
» Theinternetasamediumpostedsignificantlyimprovedusagefigures,gaining
usersfromawidesectionofsociety,fromLSM5rightupto10.
» Onanaverageday,15.7%ofadultsgoonline,upfrom13.4%intheprevious

portingsystem.
» CellCCEOAlanKnott-CraigtoldMyBroadbandthataround6,000people
