» Forthefirsttimeinhistory,smartphoneshaveoutsoldfeaturephones.
» Themainforcedrivingthesmartphonesurgeistheemergenceofcheap
AndroidhandsetsfromthelikesofHuawei,LenovoandZTE,something
whichhasseenthemdisplacetraditionallystrongplayerssuchasHTCand
BlackBerryatthetopofthesmartphoneladder.
» AccordingtoresearchcompanyIDC,smartphonevendorsshipped216.2-
millionunitsinthefirstquarterof2013,whichmarkedthefirsttimemorethan
half(51.6%)thetotalphoneshipmentsinaquarterweresmartphones.The
marketgrew41.6%comparedtothe152.7-millionunitsshippedinthesame
