We may be nowhere near eradicating Dengue, but we may be able to prevent it more effectively. Through Time-Series Modeling and geospatial mapping, Team Flex was able to predict and forecast cases and deaths up to 4 months and identify potential dengue hotspots in selected cities of the CALABARZON region. The global threat of disease outbreaks is real and it is felt more than ever now as the world struggles to contain the spread of a certain virus. But before it even created a pandemic, there is already another disease that threatens our existence, perhaps has been doing so for the longest time – Dengue. Dengue affects thousands of lives each year and continues to be a major public health problem in the Philippines. In the last year alone, the Philippines experienced the worst dengue outbreak since 2012 as reported cases reached beyond epidemic thresholds. On top of that, the delayed reporting of official case and death counts makes it even more difficult to pinpoint heavily dengue affected areas early on and initiate a targeted public health response. To address this problem, Team Flex members, Janine Padilla, Mox Ballo, and Rache Melendres, developed a publicly accessible web application that can be used by concerned government agencies and public health officials to predict the spread of dengue and visualize potential breeding sites of mosquitoes.

Most web-based disease surveillance systems that give epidemic alerts are based on very large and unstructured data from various news sources, social media and online queries that are parsed by complex algorithms. This has the tendency to generate results that are so diverse and non-specific. When considered along with the fact that there are no existing standards for mining and analyzing data from the internet, the results or decisions reached based on internet sources have been classified as low-quality. This paper proposes a web-based grassroots epidemic alert system that is based on data collected specifically from primary health centers, hospitals and registered laboratories. It takes a more traditional approach to indicator-based disease surveillance as a step towards standardizing web-based disease surveillance. It makes use of a threshold value that is based on the third quartile (75 th percentile) to determine the need to trigger the alarm for the onset of an epidemic. It also includes, for deeper analysis, demographic information.

Estimates of the per-contact probability of transmission between farms of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza virus of H7N7 subtype during the 2003 epidemic in the Netherlands are important for the design of better control and biosecurity strategies. We used standardized data collected during the epidemic and a model to extract data for untraced contacts based on the daily number of infectious farms within a given distance of a susceptible farm. With these data, the ‘maximum likelihood estimation’ approach was used to estimate the transmission probabilities by the individual contact types, both traced and untraced. The outcomes were validated against literature data on virus genetic sequences for outbreak farms. The findings highlight the need to 1) Understand the routes underlying the infections without traced contacts and 2) To review whether the contact-tracing protocol is exhaustive in relation to all the farm’s day-to-day activities and practices.

ABSTRACT Tuberculosis is the second leading cause of death from an infectious disease worldwide, after the human immunodeficiency virus. The main aim of this research work is to develop a Neuro-Fuzzy system for diagnosing tuberculosis. The system is structured with to accept symptoms with the help of three domain Medical expertise as inputs that are used to automatically generate rules that are injected in to the knowledge based where the system would use to make decisions and draw a conclusion. MATLAB 7.0 is used to implement this experiment using fuzzy logic and Neural Network toolbox. In this experiment linguistic variables are evaluated using Gaussian membership function. This system will offer potential assistance to medical practitioners and healthcare sector in making prompt decision during the diagnosis of tuberculosis. In this work basic emblematic approach using Neuro-fuzzy methodology is presented that describes a technique to forecast the existence of mycobacterium and provides support platform to researchers in the related field. Our spinal cord has various small discs stacked one on top of another. It gives shape to our backs and creates a support system for the body to stand on. Each disc comprises a strong outer ring and a softer, gel-like inner core. When the inner part comes out through the outer ring due to injury or weakness, it results in what’s commonly referred to as a slipped, herniated, or prolapsed disc. This condition often triggers discomfort and pain.

Health isn’t limited to the well-being of your body. Your body works only when your mind is robust. Mental health, just like physical health, deserves the utmost attention and care. When life throws curveballs, navigating difficult emotions and mental states can be challenging. With the hectic schedule and the hustle of life, our mental health takes a toll. Balancing it alongside our work turns out to be even more challenging. That’s where seeking professional help becomes crucial.

A big part of cleaning up our lives requires us to change up bad habits, which can be a lot easier said than done. Last week on TCLP, I talked about how all our habits and everything that is “automatic” to us is governed by the subconscious. That’s why it’s important for us to learn how to work with our own subconscious minds and get them on board with the healthy changes we want to make in our lives. Today I’m going to be covering some effective methods to work with our subconscious minds to create cleaner habits that become so automatic we don’t even have to think about them. 🩷

it's an review article based on the clinical symptoms that arise after the alcohol withdrawal that can get worse in just 2 days after the withdraw of alcohol this review includes the pathophysiology and management of AWS. Management includes both the allopathic and ayurvedic Management and thus keeping in mind that the disorder can go to chronic in just 2 days treatment should be started from day 1st and giving ayurvedic formulations can be a better choice over allopathic because these can be administered for a very long time compared to allopathic and also works on the root cause of disorder clear out toxicity and person starts to recover soon. Embark on an enlightening journey into the intricate world of the cytoskeleton and cell inclusions with Dr. Muhammad Ali Rabbani, Assistant Professor of Anatomy. In this comprehensive lecture, explore the structure, formation, and functions of the cytoskeleton's three major components: microtubules, microfilaments (actin filaments), and intermediate filaments. Additionally, delve into the realm of cell inclusions, understanding their nature, composition, and significance within cellular biology. 🎓 Learning Objectives:🎓 By the end of this lecture, students will: - Identify different components of the cytoskeleton and describe their structure, formation, and functions. - Define inclusion bodies and describe various types of cell inclusions. - Understand the roles of microtubules, microfilaments, and intermediate filaments in providing structural support, facilitating cellular motility, and aiding in cell division. - Analyze the dynamic instability of microtubules and the mechanisms of motor protein-driven intracellular transport. - Explore the formation, composition, and physiological significance of various cell inclusions, including fat droplets, glycogen granules, lipofuscin, and hemosiderin. 💡 Key Topics Covered: - Structure, Formation, and Functions of Microtubules - Microtubule Organizing Center (MTOC) and Centrosome - Dynamic Instability of Microtubules - Motor Proteins and Intracellular Transport - Structure and Functions of Microfilaments (Actin Filaments) - Actin Binding Proteins and Myosin Motors - Structure and Stability of Intermediate Filaments - Types of Intermediate Filaments: Keratin, Vimentin, Desmin, Neurofilaments, Glial Filaments, Lamin - Nature, Composition, and Significance of Cell Inclusions: Fat Droplets, Glycogen Granules, Lipofuscin, Hemosiderin 🔍 Connect with Dr. Muhammad Ali Rabbani for a deeper understanding of the cytoskeleton and cell inclusions!🔍 Learning Resources: For additional educational content and resources, visit our website: [www.medicoseacademics.com](www.medicoseacademics.com).
