राजा िशरथस्स्वगं जगार्म पविपन्सुतर्म ् ।

तथा in that way, रार्मे when Rama, चचत्रकू टर्म ् गते had set out to
Chitrakuta, पुत्रशोकातुर: stricken by the grief over the separation
from his son, राजा िशरथ: king Dasaratha, सुतर्म ् about his son,
पविपन् wailing, स्वगगर्म ् heavens, जगार्म went.
When Rama had set out to Chitrakuta, king Dasaratha, stricken
by the grief over the separation from his son and mourning over
him departed to heavens.

र्मृते तु तजस्र्मन्भरतो वमसष्ठप्रर्मुखैद्गपवजै: ।। 1.1.33।।
ननयुज्यर्मानो राज्याय नैच्छद्राज्यं र्महाबि:।
र्मृते तु तजस्र्मन्भरत: वमसष्ठप्रर्मुखै: द्पवजै: ||
ननयुज्यर्मान: राज्याय न ऐच्छत्राज्यर्म ्र्महाबि:
तजस्र्मन् when he (Dasaratha), र्मृते had died, वमसष्ठप्रर्मुखै:
द्पवजै: with Vasishta and other brahmins, राज्याय to rule the
kingdom, ननयुज्यर्मान: had been ordered, र्महाबि: mighty,
भरत: तु Bharata, राज्यर्म ् kingdom, नैच्छत् * did not desire to
rule .
After Dasaratha had passed away, mighty Bharata did not desire
to rule the kingdom against the orders by Vasishta and other
brahmins.

स जगार्म वनं वीरो रार्मपािप्रसािक: ।। 1.1.34 ।।
साः जगार्म वनर्म ्वीर: रार्मपािप्रसािक:
वीर: The brave person who had conquered envy and hatred,
रार्मपािप्रसािक: in order to propitiate Rama's feet, साः *he,
वनर्म ्* forest, जगार्म went.
The brave Bharata, who had conquered envy and hatred went
to the forest in order to worship Rama's feet.

त्वर्मेव राजा धर्मगज्ञ इनत रार्मं वचोऽब्रवीत् ।

अयाचत् भ्रातरर्म ्रार्मर्म ्आयगभावपुरस्कृ त:
आयगभावपुरस्कृ त: worshipped with reverence, सुर्महात्र्मानर्म ् highly respectable,
सत्यपराक्रर्मर्म ् truthful chivalry, गत्वा having reached, रार्मर्म ् Rama, भ्रातरर्म ् * रार्मर्म ्
brother Rama, अयाचत् implored.
धर्मगज्ञ: knower of righteousness, त्वर्मेव you alone, राजा इनत should be the king, रार्मर्म ्
addressing Rama, वच: words, अब्रवीत् spoke.
Bharata reached Rama, so pleasing venerable, truthful and chivalrous, worshipped him
with reverence and implored.
Bharata addressing Rama said, 'You are knower of righteousness. You alone should be
the king (meaning that when the elder brother is alive, the younger brother is prohibited
from ruling the kingdom)'.
