Born 02.06.1981 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Nasib grew up in Soviet Azerbaijan’s capital city of Baku until 1992 when the family
moved to Moscow. Nasib’s father Nizami was one of the pioneers of post-Soviet
private business sector and started an oil and gas engineering and construction
company in the early 90s. Nasib went to prestigious gymnasium 1520 in Moscow and in
1998 went to study at St. Edward’s boarding school in Oxford, England.

2. Energy
Industries
After graduating from AIU University in London (now Regents University)
Nasib joined family business and headed the development of various projects:
• Engineering, development and construction of 500 ton/day
gas condensate refinery in Kungrad, Uzbekistan (2003)
• Engineering and development of 1500 ton/day
oil refinery in Hayratan, Afghanistan (2005)
• Engineering and development of a 500 ton/day
oil refinery in Jalal-Abad, Kyrgyzstan (2007)
• Development of a 10,000 MT oil terminal in Kalmykia, Russia (2008)
• Establishment and development of an oil products trading company with main offices
in Moscow and active presence throughout Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan,
Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Baltics and Turkey (2003-2009)
By 2008 Piriyev family owned one of the largest and most successful private companies
in oil and gas sector of the former Soviet Union region.
One of the key priorities of the family business had always been the corporate social
responsibility. Nasib Piriyev became very active patron of arts and in 2004 established
Buta Arts Centre — a non-for-profit organization for development of Azerbaijan’s arts
and culture.

3. Azerbaijan
Methanol Company
In 2009 Piriyev family relocated back to Baku to start a new project – development of a
petrochemical complex with a state-of-the-art methanol plant in the heart of it. Azerbaijan
Methanol Company was created and started construction of 2000 ton/day methanol plant. As
Group CEO Nasib’s accomplishments included:
• Recruitment of top-tier personnel and setting up the legal structure
and corporate governance for AzMeCo under the guidance of IFC
• Setting up the finance department and leading the team to create a project finance
package for obtaining a loan from EBRD. After two years of negotiations the EBRD
board approved a 120 million USD limited recourse project finance loan to AzMeCo
which was the largest ever funding package for private company in the Caucasus region
• Conducting successful negotiations with other European banks including
Credit Suisse, BNP-Paribas, DEG, FMO, Black Sea Development Bank and others
• Closing finance deals with Russia’s major banks VTB and Sberbank
• Leading AzMeCo team to conclude environmental studies and works
at the methanol plant construction site
• Conducting a two-year long negotiations and tender for sales of methanol with
companies like Vitol, Mitsui, Mitsubishi and BP resulting in successful signing of a take-
or-pay contract for methanol off-take with BP
• Setting up the corporate HRM strategy and leading the efforts to establish AzMeCo as a
brand name in Azerbaijan strongly associated with integrity, efficiency and high-end
technology
The construction of the methanol plant was successfully completed in 2014 and first
product started to flow to international markets.

4. Investments,
Arts and
Charity
In 2010 Nasib establishes a second line of business for the family by investing in food,
consumer and lifestyle sectors and acquiring franchise and distribution rights for various
brands including DeBeers Diomond Jewelers, Alfred Dunhill, Nina Ricci, Lalique,
Steinway&Sons, WHSmith, Superdry and many others. Gourmet food markets in
Moscow and Baku as well as a chain of American fast food franchise restaurants was
developed in Azerbaijan and Ukraine.
However Nasib’s main focus and interest outside the oil and gas industry has always
been the art and culture sector. His non-profit Buta Arts Centre grew and created
several branches like Buta Creative Lab (design and artwork), Buta Films (film and media
production) and Buta Festival of Arts in London.
Nasib personally curated complicated art projects and his accomplishments in this area
include:
• Producing concert of Placido Domingo in Baku
and coaching Maestro to perform a song in Azeri language
• Producing a concert of Andrea Bocelli in Baku
• Producing a concert of Ennio Morricone conducting
Azerbaijan’s State Symphonic Orchestra
• Producing a short film “Sonuncu (The Last One)” shot on location in the highlands of
Azerbaijan that went on to win more than 30 awards at prestigious international film
festivals including a place in the final of official program of the Cannes Film Festival in
2014. This film became first ever Azeri-language film to be screened in Cannes
Festival as part of the main competition program.

5. • Producing and curating a 100 day long quinquennial Buta Festival of Azerbaijani Arts
in London in 2009-2010 that included over 30 performing and visual arts events
across prestigious venues.
• Producing and curating the second quinquennial Buta Festival in London in
2014-2015 which covered wider range of Azeri arts and culture at venues like Royal
Albert Hall, Barbican, Sotheby’s and Royal Academy of Arts.
• Sponsored and produced numerous books, CDs and films related to Azerbaijan’s art
and culture
In addition Nasib was active in various charitable projects in Baku and London.
When UNESCO confirmed the world’s oldest known competitive team sport chovgan to
be Intangible Cultural Heritage of Azerbaijan Nasib established the first Azeri
professional polo club in London named Baku Guardians. In May 2014 he organized an
exhibition match and charity event introducing the team to public and having HRH
Prince William captaining the Baku Guardians team.
The team played the whole season and won two trophies. All proceeds from all events
and matches were donated to charities. The season ended with a Chovgan Twilight Polo
event in September with many guests and celebrities to watch Baku Guardians play polo
at night.
The Group also sponsored numerous charity events in Azerbaijan thought 2008-2015.

In 2019 Nasib established Monsas International Ltd – an investment management and
financial solutions firm that provides a range of financial services to a client base that
include institutions, wealth managers, family offices and high net worth individuals.
One of the key markets for Monsas is China where the firm has set up a subsidiary office
and acquired a domestic company with leasing license.
