Poverty as a social problem: causes and
effects
What are the possible ways of
solving the problem of poverty?
When you begin speaking about poverty don’t forget to mention the
following points:
 The title of your project

The purpose of your project, the main idea
•
Introduction
Poverty as a social problem
Present your ideas briefly and dwell upon the core of the problem.
Don’t forget to speak about the statistics, because we are
speaking about Russia in particular
•
The body
1. Causes of poverty (with comments and examples)
2. Effects of poverty (with comments and examples)
3. Possible solutions of solving the problem
•
Conclusion
Sum up your ideas and express your opinion
 Can we really improve the situation in Russia?
Criteria of evaluation
Every mark illustrates every point. Use only 1 mark

1 – very bad

2 – bad

3 – satisfactory

4 – good

5 - excellent
1. Oral presentation. The contents of the presentation. The idea is cleared to the
audience. Information in the project is thoroughly explained to the audience.
The group gave in-depth analysis and presented arguments. The purpose is
achieved.
2. The group presented full information (photos and video, etc) according to the idea
and the purpose of the project
3.There are no grammar and pronunciation mistakes
4. Every member of the group was enthusiastic about working on the project,
participated equally in gathering information and contributed a lot to the idea
of the presentation
5. Every member of the group spoke loudly and clearly, illustrated the project with
examples, supplemented (дополняли) each other, used eye contact with the
audience
6. Reaction of the group to the questions of the audience and the teacher
7. Say who was the best speaker during the presentation

