Engineering Experience
Research Experience for Teachers (RET) (Jun.-Aug. 2015)
Worked in the Advanced Materials Processing and Testing (AMPT) Lab at CSU sintering and processing zirconia
based materials in order to improve manufacturing techniques. Developed a new polishing procedure which improved
lab efficiency.
Developed a high school lesson plan for students to better understand the sintering process.
Service Trips
Second Mile Water (El Bosque, Nicaragua): Assisted in the first phase of implementing a water distribution system for
a community in Nicaragua. Duties included collecting GPS points and surveying the local people. (May 2013)
Engineers in Action (San Javier, Bolivia): Only freshman selected in a competitive process to repair and maintain
damaged water wells in rural Bolivia as well as teach the importance of water sanitation to children. (May 2012)
Poudre River Research (Apr. 2013- Apr.2014)
Surveyed the river and the immediate surrounding area as well as collected river bed and insect samples in order to
know more about the ecological and fluvial effects of the High Park fire of 2012 on the river and biological life that
depends on it.
Work Experience and Leadership Positions
CSU College of Engineering Student Ambassador (Aug. 2012 - Present)
Give tours to perspective students of the College of Engineering as well as the engineering residence halls.
Was selected to go with a professor to Orlando for the Technology Student Association's national conference to
represent CSU for recruitment. (June 2013)
Second Mile Water Intern (May-Aug. 2014)
Managed the logistics of the major fundraising event, The Colorado 54. Generated web content and edited the
website for the event
STEM Institute Instructor (June 2014 and 2015)
Designed a week long STEM summer camp for high school students. Organized and ran engineering projects (ie:
hydrogen fuel cell model car, scale wind turbine, solar panel project) and delivered instructional lessons to 28
students from all around the state of Colorado.
SEEK Lead Mentor (July 2013)
Lead three other mentors in teaching a classroom of 15 5th graders about STEM topics through the use of
engineering "toys" during the three week camp. Summer Engineering Experience for Kids was put on by the National
Society for Black Engineers and sponsored by CH2MHill.
Voted Mentor of the week (MVP) on the final week by my 51 peers and site leadership.
Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity (December 2011-Present)
President (2015): Manage the executive board of the fraternity to develop events and programs for our members.
Organize chapter meetings, executive meetings, and retreats. Serve as the main point of contact for the CSU Greek
Life office, the national fraternity, and St. John XXIII Parish. Develop and maintain all major fraternity documents.
Fraternity has grown from 46 to 59 members and has been 2nd and 3rd place in grades among all 20 fraternities on
campus during my term as president.
Founding member: Organized initial meetings between future members, the University, and the national office of PKT.
Recruited those who would eventually be founding fathers as well.
Vice President of Intellectual Development (2014): Managed the chapter’s academic policy and implemented an
academic scholarship program for members. Also sat on the Executive counsel which is the governing body of our
fraternity.
