The Egyptian Museum: Your Egyptologist will escort you on a fascinating Tour of 7,000 years of
this famous museum houses the world’s largest collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts

Great Pyramids: The Great Pyramid of Giza is the main part of a complex setting of buildings that
included two mortuary temples in honor of Khufu (one close to the pyramid and one
near the Nile), three smaller pyramids for Khufu's wives, an even smaller "satellite"
pyramid, a raised causeway connecting the two temples, and small Mastaba tombs
surrounding the pyramid for nobles. One of the small pyramids contains the tomb of
queen Hetepheres (discovered in 1925), sister and wife of Snefru and the mother of Khufu.

situated on a highly visible spur of the Mokattam Hills of Old Cairo, was the nerve

century. Mameluk sultans and Turkish governors resided in the Citadel, which is

Proceed to visit, High Dam: Located near Aswan, the world famous High Dam was
an engineering miracle when it was built in the 960s. It contains 18 times the material
used in the Great Pyramid of Cheops. The Dam is 11,811 feet long, 3215 feet thick at
the base and 364 feet tall.
Philae Temple: Philae dedicated to Goddess Isis and constructed on the beautiful
island of Philae. Philae the modern day name is Greek but the ancient Egyptians called
the island P‐aaleq which amongst other definitions has the dual meaning of "end" and
"creation".
The unfinished obelisk is the largest known ancient obelisk, located in the northern
region of the stone quarries of ancient Egypt in Aswan (Assuan), Egypt. It was ordered
by Queen Hatshepsut conmemorating her 16th anniversary on the throne. It is
nearly one third larger than any ancient Egyptian obelisk ever erected. If finished it would have
measured around 42 m (120 feet) and would have weighed nearly 1,200 tons. Archeologists
speculate that it was intended to complement the so‐called Lateran Obelisk which was originally at
Karnak and is now outside the Lateran Palace in Rome. (Thutmose III obelisk in Lateran, Rome: 105 ft)

Nome of Upper Egypt and the
centre of the cult of a triad of Gods, which consisted of Horus of Behdet, Hathor, and
their son, Hor‐Sama‐Tawy. Edfu was known as “Apollo polis Magna” because the
Greeks identified Horus with their God Apollo, the work of construction began during
the reign of Ptolemy III (about 237 BC) and was finished during the reign of Ptolemy IV.

Valley of the Kings: The first king of the New Kingdom, Ahmose of the 18th
Dynasty,
built a pyramid‐like structure at Abydos, which may or may not have been his original
tomb the Valley, known as Biban el‐Muluk, "doorway or gateway of the kings," or, the
Wadyein, meaning "the two valleys," is actually composed of two separate branches.
The main eastern branch, called TA set aat, or "The Great Place," is where most of the royal tombs
are located, and in the larger, The Valley is hidden from sight, behind the cliffs, which form the
backdrop to the temple complex of Deir el‐Bahari.
Hatshepsut Temple: The mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the Queen’s
architect, Senenmut, designed it and set it at the head of a valley overshadowed by
the Peak of the Thebes, the "Lover of Silence," where lived the goddess who presided
over the necropolis. His daughter became pharaoh, her father Tutmose I circulated
the legend that the God Amon became father of Hatshepsut and therefore she is half a God she was
married twice unfortunately and her second husband and stepbrother Tutmose III hated her so much
that he had all pictures and inscriptions of her destroyed after she died.
Colossi of Memnon: These two, gigantic figures of Amenhotep III were originally situated in front of
his Mortuary temple which was destroyed for unknown reasons! The two colossi are
made of sandstone, which during ancient times was brought from Gabal El Silselah.
Each colossus, including the pedestal and the crown, is about 21m tall and represents
King Amenhotep III seating on his throne, wearing the Nimes, or royal headdress, with
the divine cobra protecting his forehead.

Luxor temple: The Temple of Luxor is among the most beautiful Temples in Egypt. It was
known in the New Kingdom period as Ipt‐Rsyt, which means the southern shrine. This
was to differentiate between this Temple and Karnak Temple, which was the northern
house of Amon Ra. Amenhotep III built Luxor Temple. The Temple run close and parallel
to the river Nile from north to south, it was constructed on the site of a small Temple of Amon, built
by kings of the 12th dynasty.
Karnak temple: This great Temple of Amon Ra was known during the Middle Kingdom period as Ipt‐
Swt, which means the Selected Spot. It was also called Pr‐Imn, which means the
House of Amon. The entrance you will find a ram‐headed avenue of Sphinxes, which
was built to protect the Temple. There are 20 rams on each side, as you cross this
pylon, it takes you into an Open court, whose dimensions are100m long by 80m wide,
built during the 22nd Dynasty, and containing rows of bud papyrus columns.

Catacomb: This is the largest Roman cemetery in Alexandria. It is composed of three
levels cut 30 meters deep Into the existing rock, dating to the beginning of The Second
Century AD, it is a blend of Pharaonic And Roman art.
Pompey’s Pillar: Mistakenly named so in the middle Ages, This granite Pillar is over 25
meters high built amidst the ruins of the Serapium in AD 297 AD in honor of Emperor
Diocletian; it is the most prominent remaining Greek Landmark in Alexandria.
Roman Amphitheatre: Located downtown at Kom al‐Dikkah the Roman
amphitheatre is considered unique in Egypt. Discovered only in the early 1960's while
laying the foundation of a new building, the amphitheatre has twelve semi‐circular
marble tiers in remarkably good condition
Quait bay fortress from outside: The fort, built in 1479, stands on the site of the
Pharos, the fabled lighthouse of Alexandria and One of the wonders of the ancient world,
some of the Stones used in the fort's Construction came from the Pharos the promenade
near the fort is a lovely place To sit and watch the world go.
St. Mark Coptic Cathedral, the oldest church in Africa.
Abu Al‐Abbas Al‐Mursi Mosque This beautiful mosque, with its high minaret and
four domes, is Alexandria's largest and one of the most important Islamic
monuments. In 1775 the Algerians built the mosque over the tomb of the thirteenth
century Andalusan saint Ahmed Abu al‐Abbas al‐Mursi who had joined and then lead
the Shadhali brotherhood. The interior is made up of eight monolithic granite columns and a
colonnade of elongated arches. It was rebuilt in 1943 with the domes and the towering (73 meter)
minaret. It is one of Alexandria's foremost religious buildings and women are not allowed inside the
mosque proper, but may only visit a room at the back of the mosque.

The fee to go inside the pyramids area is included but to go inside the pyramid (Burial
Chamber) are not included. Chambers Inside the pyramids are empty and to reach to chamber
you have to climb very steep slop for about 68 metres and in 2nd pyramids it is about 25
metres. It is not recommended for the patient having blood pressure, heart disease or knee
problems. KINDLY CHECK WITH US BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO GO INSIDE THE CHAMBER.
 Full day tour is for 08 hours and Half Day for 04 hours. So any extension of time will be at extra

Egypt pronounced /ˈiːdʒɪpt/; Arabic: ‫ﺭﺻﻢ‬ Miṣr, pronounced [misˤɾ]; Coptic; kīmi; Egyptian: Kemet),
officially the Arab Republic of Egypt,
Egypt is famous for its ancient civilization and some of the world's most famous monuments, including
the Giza pyramid complex and its Great Sphinx. The southern city of Luxor contains numerous ancient
artifacts, such as the Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Kings. Egypt is widely regarded as an
important political and cultural nation of the Middle East.
Location:
Egypt is located in the North East tip of the African Continent. Covering an area of about 1,010,000
square kilometres (390,000 sq mi), Egypt is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Gaza
Strip and Israel to the northeast, the Red Sea to the east, Sudan to the south and Libya to the west.
Time Difference:
Egypt, Cairo is 3.5 hours behind /New Delhi, India
Time zone is GMT: +2 in winter and + 3 during daylight saving time in summer.
Weather:
Average daytime temperature in Cairo during winter is around 18/20 degree Celsius and during
summer 30/40 degree Celsius. Winter is mild and has occasional light showers
Food and Beverage:
We recommend that you use bottled water, ensuring that the seal has not been broken on the bottle.
Use it for cleaning teeth and remember not to have ice in your drinks. As for food, it is advisable to eat
at well established hotels, outlets and restaurants.
Language:
Arabic is the official language of Egypt, but you will find that English and French are widely spoken.
Religion:
Islam is the predominant religion yet all types of Christianity are also represented especially the Coptic
Christian Church.
Security:
You should keep all travel documents, cash , passports and other valuables in your hotel’s or cruise
boats safety deposit boxes. Although street crime is at minimum, as in any other country, travellers
are encouraged to use common sense and not wear ostentatious jewellers. It is also advisable to carry
only small amounts of money.
Sightseeing:
When travelling in Egypt, be prepared for early starts designed to avoid travelling during the hotter
hours of the day and to enjoy the monuments in the most favorable conditions.
Sightseeing can also mean some strenuous walking across sand or rocks and comfortable walking
shoes are recommended.
Clothing:
Egypt's climate is dry all year round, so you won't require rainwear unless you are going to Alexandria
between December and February. In winter you will need light woollen clothes with sweaters, “layers
of clothing are recommended.”From December to February travellers to winter clothing is essential.
In spring and autumn a combination of both is advisable for the warm days and cool nights, so pack
accordingly. From May to November, light cotton clothes are recommended.
People in Egypt are used to tourists visiting their countries. You are welcome to wear walking shorts
and a short sleeve shirt for sightseeing excursions.
On board Nile cruises we recommend to dress 'smart casual' to dinner each evening.
Swimsuits are absolutely fine for the swimming pools and beaches.
On days that you visit Holy sites (mosques and churches), you should wear slacks, long skirts and long
sleeves.
Electricity:
Egypt electrical current is 220V and sockets take the standard continental European dual round
pronged plug. If you do not have the correct adapter with you, your hotel housekeeping department
may have one available upon request.
Kindly notice your need for an adapter.
Local Currency & Credit Cards:
The local currency is the Egyptian pound (LE). Foreign currency can be exchanged at the airport, most
banks and authorized exchange offices, where official daily rates of exchange are posted. You must
keep the receipt for the exchange process until your departure day.
Most of the banks are open from Sunday to Thursday; working hours being 0830 to 1400, though
banks at the airports and the major entry ports are open 24 hours daily.
Although Most tourist establishments accept credit cards such as Visa, Master Card, American Express
or Diners Club. Some Nile cruises do not accept credit cards.
Tipping
In Egypt tipping is a general practice everywhere, even among the Egyptians themselves. It can be
irritating, but it is a part of the life style in Egypt. Check with your guide or representative beforehand
where tipping is expected. Although tipping is customary and expected it is at your discretion and it is
entirely up to you how much you tip and whether to tip or not.
Although it is a personal preference, STI recommend that you pay your tour manager the total tips for
your entire trip (USD 6.00 per person per day during Hotel Stay and USD 8.00 per person during
Cruise stay) upon arrival to your hotel/Cruise.

Proceed to visit, High Dam: Located near Aswan, the world famous High Dam was an engineering miracle when it was built in the 960s. It contains 18 times the material used in the Great Pyramid of Cheops. The Dam is 11,811 feet long, 3215 feet thick at the base and 364 feet tall. Philae Temple: Philae dedicated to Goddess Isis and constructed on the beautiful island of Philae. Philae the modern day name is Greek but the ancient Egyptians called the island P‐aaleq which amongst other definitions has the dual meaning of "end" and "creation". The unfinished obelisk is the largest known ancient obelisk, located in the northern region of the stone quarries of ancient Egypt in Aswan (Assuan), Egypt. It was ordered by Queen Hatshepsut conmemorating her 16th anniversary on the throne. It is nearly one third larger than any ancient Egyptian obelisk ever erected. If finished it would have measured around 42 m (120 feet) and would have weighed nearly 1,200 tons. Archeologists speculate that it was intended to complement the so‐called Lateran Obelisk which was originally at Karnak and is now outside the Lateran Palace in Rome. His daughter became pharaoh, her father Tutmose I circulated the legend that the God Amon became father of Hatshepsut and therefore she is half a God she was married twice unfortunately and her second husband and stepbrother Tutmose III hated her so much that he had all pictures and inscriptions of her destroyed after she died.
  • 5. Colossi of Memnon: These two, gigantic figures of Amenhotep III were originally situated in front of his Mortuary temple which was destroyed for unknown reasons! The two colossi are made of sandstone, which during ancient times was brought from Gabal El Silselah. The Temple run close and parallel to the river Nile from north to south, it was constructed on the site of a small Temple of Amon, built by kings of the 12th dynasty. Karnak temple: This great Temple of Amon Ra was known during the Middle Kingdom period as Ipt‐ Swt, which means the Selected Spot. It was also called Pr‐Imn, which means the House of Amon. The entrance you will find a ram‐headed avenue of Sphinxes, which was built to protect the Temple. In 1775 the Algerians built the mosque over the tomb of the thirteenth century Andalusan saint Ahmed Abu al‐Abbas al‐Mursi who had joined and then lead the Shadhali brotherhood. Although street crime is at minimum, as in any other country, travellers are encouraged to use common sense and not wear ostentatious jewellers. Sightseeing: When travelling in Egypt, be prepared for early starts designed to avoid travelling during the hotter hours of the day and to enjoy the monuments in the most favorable conditions. Sightseeing can also mean some strenuous walking across sand or rocks and comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Clothing: Egypt's climate is dry all year round, so you won't require rainwear unless you are going to Alexandria between December and February.
