The provision of specialist technical support and assurance for integrated control and

PEDL DONS Project.
The DONS project is to develop two drilling centres, DSW and WD, which will be tied
back to the Northern Producer FPF via production, gas lift and water injection pipelines
and control umbilical.
Responsible for all aspects of the control & safety systems and field instrumentation
detailed design for the replacement of the Northern Producer ESD system, the
introduction a PLC based Platform Control/SCADA Systems and modifications to the Fire
and Gas systems. Adding system interfaces, field I/O for each system and the
development of system functionality within the cause and effects and the process
control strategies, included serial interface to third party packages and upgrading to the
fiscal metering package.
In addition to Detailed Engineering Design, further duties and responsibilities entail day

Talisman Athena over Claymore FEED.
Directly responsible for developing the detail of the FEED for the system modifications

Talisman Montrose & Arbroth – Wood and Gas Export Project (WaGE).
The WaGE project was a subsea tie-back with a gas processing and export module
complete with its own F&G, PCS & ESD systems located in the WaGE modules dedicated
local equipment room.
Responsible for all aspects of verifying and implementing the detailed design of the
project ESD, DCS, Fire and Gas systems. This also involved the design of modifications
to the existing systems to integrate the Greenfield systems.
Focal point for the fiscal metering system for the project involving liaison with Talisman
Metering, BP CATS, Krohne etc. Representing Petrofac at various systems FATs for
controls modifications and testing of the ultrasonic flowmeters for fiscal metering,
and the tie-ins to the subsea control system. In addition to detailed engineering design,
further duties and responsibilities entail Inter Discipline Liaison, Purchase Design
Specifications, Data Sheets, Approval of Vendor Documentation, Requisitions, and
Client Liaison.
Part-time; provided input to the Claymore Compression Upgrade FEED study which was
to upgrade the control and safety systems to accommodate the replacement of the
existing 3 x 50% compressors with a single 100% train.

BP Magnus NGL Plant Bypass Project based at BP Offices, Dyce, Aberdeen.
Alongside my responsibilities for the BP Magnus Extension Project, I was directly
responsible for all aspects of the detailed design to the Honeywell Control and ICS
Triplex Shutdown System on the BP Magnus for the NGL Bypass project.
Feb 2003 – Mar 2005 Senior Instrument Engineer.
BP Magnus Additional Conductors Study and FEED, Aberdeen.
This project has been initiated to maintain the oil recovery from the Magnus reservoir
by adding an additional 8 wells. Although this project is FEED post study, directly
responsible for all aspects of the design of system modifications to the ICS Triplex ESD
& Fire and Gas systems and the Honeywell DCS. Also responsible for the identification
of I/O and system interfaces for each system and the development of system
functionality within the cause and effects and process control strategies. Further duties
were to specify the Hydraulic wellhead control systems and to expand the coverage of
the wellbay active fire protection. In addition to Detailed Engineering Design, further
duties and responsibilities entail attend Client Meetings, Inter Discipline Liaison,
Purchase Design Specifications, Data Sheets, Commissioning Procedures, Approval of
Vendor Documentation, Requisitions, Client Liaison, SAT / FATs.
Jan 2001 – Feb 2003 Senior Instrument Engineer.
BP Magnus Enhanced Oil Recovery Project Aberdeen (MEOR).
The MEOR project has been initiated to maximise oil recovery from the Magnus
reservoir.
The aim of the project is to import gas from the existing East of Shetlands deepwater
oil fields via the Sullom Voe Terminal for re-injection into the Magnus reservoir. In
order to accomplish this aim the existing Magnus facility is to be fitted with a new
compression module and reservoir re-injection facilities.
Directly responsible for all aspects of the detailed design for the system modifications of
new and revised functionality for both the Greenfield and Brownfield modifications
within the scope of the EOR project. A new compression module requirements entail
additional field coverage for both the F&G and PA system and a dedicated ESD system
with associated elements. This involves modifications to the existing ICS Triplex ESD
and Fire and Gas detection system, Honeywell DCS, PA and communication systems.
Responsible for the identification of additional third party system interfaces for each
system and the development of project requirements within the cause and effect and
process control strategies. Fire and Gas detection has increased with the addition of the
new compression fire areas, utilising CCTV based flame and Acoustic Gas detection to
supplement conventional field equipment. In addition to Detailed Engineering Design,
further duties and responsibilities entail Inter Discipline Liaison, Purchase Design
Specifications, Data Sheets, Commissioning Procedures, Approval of Vendor
Documentation, Requisitions, Client Liaison, SAT / FATs.

Senior Systems Engineer
NAM Integrated Services Contract Velsen Noord, Netherlands.
Employed as Senior Systems Engineer for the joint venture between Aberdeen-based
Wood Group Engineering and Dutch Company Stork ICM. The venture was formed to
provide ISC engineering and support for NAM’s (Nederlandse Aardolie Maatscappij) 30
offshore gas and oil production installations in the Dutch sector of the North Sea, and
the gas treatment facility at Den Helder in the Netherlands. This position is for systems
engineering support, modifications, maintenance, and project management of DCS /
ESD / F&G systems for all of the above offshore installations and onshore facility.

Employed as a Senior Project Engineer to manage the Manchester-based Wormald
Safety & Service Support Group, providing project-engineering services covering in-
house detailed design and integration of turnkey projects, and modification/upgrade of
existing systems. Control of the commercial and contractual aspects of the projects.
Management of maintenance and service/support contracts for the Oil & Gas, Nuclear
industry and MOD. In many cases, these systems interfaced with mechanical protection

Site Based Project Involvement
Typical duties as a Lead Commissioning Engineer and responsibilities for the following
site based projects consisting of sense checking work against drawings, specifications
and workpacks. Control and supervision of assigned contract workforce, resolution of
technical problems and queries, on-site technical reports and update of drawings to as-
built status.
Client liaison with regard to engineering and technical aspects of the project, including
test documentation and demonstration of systems to clients and certifying authorities,
HSE etc.
BHP PETROLEUM, WORMALD /
FISHER ROSEMOUNT ALLIANCE
Liverpool Bay Project.
Throughout the project for In-house test, FAT at Fisher Rosemount, of a multi-system
Fire & Gas and ESD system used on the BHP Petroleum, Liverpool Bay Project. The
integrated DCS, F&G and ESD systems, consisted of 7 Fire & Gas and ESD systems
utilising Triconex TMR PLC's, Hima system (HIPS) for I/O rated at SIL 3, interfaced to a
Fisher Rosemount Provox D C S. Communications protocols included Modbus RTU via
RS232/485 multidrop. Site work included pre-commissioning works at construction
yard, THC Hartlepool and offshore including demonstration of the system to the
certifying authorities.

The DONS project is to develop two drilling centres, DSW and WD, which will be tied back to the Northern Producer FPF via production, gas lift and water injection pipelines and control umbilical. Responsible for all aspects of the control & safety systems and field instrumentation detailed design for the replacement of the Northern Producer ESD system, the introduction a PLC based Platform Control/SCADA Systems and modifications to the Fire and Gas systems. The WaGE project was a subsea tie-back with a gas processing and export module complete with its own F&G, PCS & ESD systems located in the WaGE modules dedicated local equipment room. Responsible for all aspects of verifying and implementing the detailed design of the project ESD, DCS, Fire and Gas systems. This also involved the design of modifications to the existing systems to integrate the Greenfield systems. Focal point for the fiscal metering system for the project involving liaison with Talisman Metering, BP CATS, Krohne etc. Representing Petrofac at various systems FATs for controls modifications and testing of the ultrasonic flowmeters for fiscal metering, and the tie-ins to the subsea control system. Alongside my responsibilities for the BP Magnus Extension Project, I was directly responsible for all aspects of the detailed design to the Honeywell Control and ICS Triplex Shutdown System on the BP Magnus for the NGL Bypass project. Feb 2003 – Mar 2005 Senior Instrument Engineer. BP Magnus Additional Conductors Study and FEED, Aberdeen. This project has been initiated to maintain the oil recovery from the Magnus reservoir by adding an additional 8 wells. Although this project is FEED post study, directly responsible for all aspects of the design of system modifications to the ICS Triplex ESD & Fire and Gas systems and the Honeywell DCS. Also responsible for the identification of I/O and system interfaces for each system and the development of system functionality within the cause and effects and process control strategies. Jan 2001 – Feb 2003 Senior Instrument Engineer. BP Magnus Enhanced Oil Recovery Project Aberdeen (MEOR). The MEOR project has been initiated to maximise oil recovery from the Magnus reservoir. The aim of the project is to import gas from the existing East of Shetlands deepwater oil fields via the Sullom Voe Terminal for re-injection into the Magnus reservoir. In order to accomplish this aim the existing Magnus facility is to be fitted with a new compression module and reservoir re-injection facilities. Directly responsible for all aspects of the detailed design for the system modifications of new and revised functionality for both the Greenfield and Brownfield modifications within the scope of the EOR project. A new compression module requirements entail additional field coverage for both the F&G and PA system and a dedicated ESD system with associated elements. This involves modifications to the existing ICS Triplex ESD and Fire and Gas detection system, Honeywell DCS, PA and communication systems. Responsible for the identification of additional third party system interfaces for each system and the development of project requirements within the cause and effect and process control strategies. Fire and Gas detection has increased with the addition of the new compression fire areas, utilising CCTV based flame and Acoustic Gas detection to supplement conventional field equipment.
