It’s not just a camera!  Tapesstudents need to get their own  reusing not good! Need to be reminded Tripodswhenever possible               Lighting– makes a big difference, whenever possible Costumes, Locations, props Tools Needed
Concept of a basic non-linear editing application Editing basics and beyond
Most School computers can’t handle more than extremely short, simple video pieces Storage – student directories are not big enough to store more than very short video clips Students need to use other storage devices, most computers on campus will not allow this Many cameras will not accept external mics.  Others will not accept analogue video in All of our limitations!
Video requires Firewire for effective input (USB poor quality) most computers do not have firewire cards All of our limitations (cont.)
Use the Kiss approach Edit in camera – present from camera (Nancy and Andre) “found” footage projects – All editing, no camera required – (Julia’s C-Span) Lo-Tech or No-tech – Making still pics into a video – Some guy named Burns did quite a job with this Does anyone remember “slide shows” the realones?  “boop, please go to next slide” Clever ways to get around our limitationsDamn The Torpedoes!

Margaret: 3 camera kits (mini DV), tripod, wireless mic (cheap) Stephen: 3 camera kits, funky old 8mm camera, some external hard drives, wireless mic James: Calvin: Present Equipment on site
Video Edit lab opened late  Rentable lighting kits – after students take training seminar Video Cage – Student run, all equipment is monitored at all times Staying on the “learning curve” of innovative changes Thoughts on the future
I envision a world where every teacher has at least two cameras and two editing stations per class Thoughts on the Future:
