5. Jasreel (Lim You Jin)'s Endorsement – From Global Passport Spring 2014
Xin Chao! I am Jasreel, an ordinary girl who was born in Malaysia. Back then four months ago, I have accepted a
challenge that I have never done in my life. And two months ago, a final decision was made and it has been a decision
that I will never ever regret in life.
Six weeks ago, I flied to Vietnam alone to do a project called Global Passport. It is a communicative English project
to encourage university students to speak more confidently in English, so that each of them will own a "Passport" to
travel around the globe. Three interns, including me and exchange participants from the Netherlands and Indonesia
were supposed to design a three-weeks English course for students. So here starts the stories of our internship.
At the beginning, attendees were shy, and did not dare to express their ideas. But as time passed by, they have opened
up so much that, all of us have become a big family. Teaching them English is not an easy task as the proficiency of
English in Vietnam is generally low. Nonetheless, we managed to break through all the limits to provide fulfilling
learning experiences to all the attendees. Our hard work did pay off. This is something that we felt so touched when
we get to see that, our students and we ourselves, get to grow together.
Moving on to the country that I have traveled , Vietnam, it is a beautiful country. Despite the language barrier of me
not being able to speak Vietnamese, people are still warm and friendly. I have learnt a few valuable skills throughout
this project. Proactiveness is something that is very important in life. Whatever we want, we must be brave and go for
it! Besides, I have also learnt that, openness is one of the mindset magic that human being could have. Despite
coming from different background and countries, everyone still managed to blend in well. I am really thankful for all
the people that I have met here. Without them, my internship experience wouldn't be so this colorful and memorable.
After the moment I finished my internship, I know that starting from this moment, this second, I, Jasreel will live my
life to the fullest without leaving any regret!
6. Do Minh Phuong's Endorsement
Do Minh Phuong - Best AIESEC Hanoi GCDP Exchange Participant 2013
A life-changing experience
I always dream of travelling abroad without my family and friends in quite a long time while working for an
international or voluntary organization. My wish came true when I got a chance to join Global Community
Development Program (now called Global Citizen) of AIESEC last summer.
The fact remains that participating in GCDP is not as difficult as most of the students think, it is all about
courage and enthusiasm. If you are brave enough to apply for this, the road to a life-changing experience will be
fully bright. This belief itself is the main motivation behind my GCDP in the Philippines. In fact, I have never
thought that I would come to the Philippines someday; however, GCDP brought me there and did left me with
memorable recollection of Manila, AIESEC UPD, Hands On Manila; kinds of special food such as: Sisig, Halo
Halo, Tsitsaron, Isaw, etc as well as friends from China, Indonesia, Korea, Kazakhstan, Holland and especially
the Philippines.
Up until now, it has been one the most wonderful and unique memory in my student life. As a wild and young
person, why don’t you come and get it ?
