7 Habits of Highly Effective People
We all want to succeed & one path to success is to
inculcate habits that can help us in our Journey !!
• Highly effective People take the Initiative
• They do not impose Limits on themselves that prevent
them from acting .
• They recognize that they have the freedom to
determine the kind of character .
• They may not be able to control their circumstances,
but they can decide how to make the best use of those
circumstances .
Habit 1 : Be Proactive
Circle of Concern & Circle of Influence
Response-ability
• Responsibility is the ability to choose your response.
• Highly Proactive People recognize their responsibility.
They do not blame circumstances, Conditions or
conditioning for their behavior.
• Their behavior is a product of their own conscious
choice, based on values
Challenge Yourself
• Start Replacing Reactive language with Proactive
• Reactive : He makes me so mad
• Proactive : I control my own feelings
• Convert reactive tasks into Proactive Tasks
Reactive VS Proactive Focus
• There is nothing I can do
• I have to do that
• I can’t
• I must
• Things are going worse
• Lets look at other alternatives
• I will choose proper response.
• I choose
• I prefer
• What initiatives can we take ?
Habit 2 : Begin with the End in Mind
• All Things are created twice
• Identify your centre
• A Principle Centre
• A Personal Mission Statement
Activity !!!
• Visualize in rich detail your own funeral .
• Break down different roles in your life & list 3 to 5 goals you
to achieve
• Define what Scares you.
• Put first things first

some reports, some meetings, popular

trivia, busy work, some mail, some
phone calls time wasters, pleasant
activites
• We spend our time reacting to urgent circumstances &
emergencies & never invest the necessary efforts to develop
the ability to prevent emergencies in the First Place .
• We confuse the important with the urgent . The urgent is
easy to see . The important is harder to discern .
• We must spend more time on planning , avoiding pit falls ,
developing relationships , cultivating opportunities & re
charging ourselves .
• Follow Pareto Principle - 80% of your time comes from 20%
of your time
Activity
• Identify a Quadrant 2 activities that your have been
neglecting.
• Create your own time management Matrix to start
prioritizing
• Estimate how much time you spend in each Quadrant
& then log your time of a week & check how much
time was spent on Quadrant 2.
Habit 4 : Think Win / Win
• Understand the objectives & aspirations .
• Do not oppose , object or argue what we hear .
• Listen carefully & think about it .
Habit 5 : Seek First to Understand
• Empathic Listening
• Diagnose before you Prescribe
• Four Auto biographical responses
• Then seek to be understood
• One on One
Habit 6 : Synergize
• Synergistic Communication
• Synergy in Business
• Effective synergy depends on Communication.
• We often don’t listen, reflect & respond but instead
we hear & reflect reflexively.
• Cooperation & Communication are the two important
aspects of synergetic relationship .
Habit 7 : Sharpen the Saw
• Take Time Out to build the capacity to do
what is important through personal renewal .
Maintain a balance among the different dimensions
(Physical ,Mental , Social, Emotional & Spiritual
Dimensions ) .
Lets inculcate these habits &
influence others lives ……
