Dr Vitharana has 32 years’ professional experience in dams, structural, geotechnical, earthquake, water resources and infrastructure engineering. Nihal is Arup’s Australasian Dams Leader and Associate Principal – Transport and Resources. Nihal has worked as Principal Engineer/Manager for major dam designs such as Churchman Brook, Samson Brook, Jindabyne, Millbrook, Harvey, Serpentine, Waroona, Millstream and Wolkalup where is work included task management, design and the supervision of drawings and specifications. Recently, he was the technical leader for the independent review of the proposed Warragamba dam-raising and flood mitigation at a capital cost of A$800 million. His work
