8. Finance
• SBA Received funds and technical support from the World Bank, corporations as part of
corporate social responsibility initiatives, and by state governments
• Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is expected to cost over ₹620billion.
• The government provides an incentive of ₹15,000 for each toilet constructed by
a BPL family.
• Government and the International Monetary Fund signed a US$1.5 billion loan
agreement on 30 March 2016 for the Swachh Bharat Mission to support India's
universal sanitation initiative.
• The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation which implements the SBA has been
allocated Rs 20,011 crore in the Union Budget 2017 which is a marked jump from the
previous year.
9. Previous Sanitation Campaigns
• Officially starting as of 1 April 1999, Govt. launched the Total Sanitation Campaign
(TSC) which was later (on 1 April 2012) renamed "Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan“.
Corporate India And Swachh Bharat Campaign
• Major corporate houses such as L&T, DLF, Vedanta, Bharti, TCS, Ambuja Cements,
Toyota Kirloskar, Maruti, Tata Motors, Coca Cola, Dabur, Aditya Birla, Adani,
Infosys, TVS and many others have earmarked budgets for Swachh Bharat projects.
(building toilets in distant villages, running workshops on behavioural changes, waste management, and water hygiene
and sanitation activities among other things.)
• According to one estimate Rs 1000 Crore worth of various cleanliness projects are
in the pipeline by corporate sector.
10. According to Data of Survekshan 2017,
404 cities where more than 75% of residential areas were found substantially
clean.
297 cities have 100% door to door collection of garbage.
227 Cities where vacancy of staff in ULB for Solid waste Management is less than
10%.
226 cities where more than 75% of commercial areas undertake twice a day
sweeping.
166 cities where more than 75% garbage vehicles are tracked by GPS/RFID.
118 cities out of 500 have been found to be open Defecation Free

14. My Suggestions:
• There should be proper monitoring of the Public Toilet Facilities.
• The penalty fee paid by these people will
a. Make them understand that govt. is serious about cleanliness
b. Make them think twice before peeing or spitting in public.
• There should be more innovative techniques for waste Management.
• Assessment should be based on how many people use the toilet facilities.
• Government should more promote the bio toilets.
