Why use geothermal energy? Unlike conventional
energy, geothermal energy does not need to be
generated at high cost and with high CO2 emis-
sions – it already exists, free and inexhaustible. It
is an essential component for achieving public policy
climate goals. If fossil fuels are used, legal require-
ments for new construction and retrofitting of
buildings can only be met through higher invest-
ments. Geothermal energy is therefore the future of
heating and cooling.
inexhaustible energy
from the earth, for the earth
Your advantages of our technology
up to 70% lower
operating costs
Geothermal energy is available free
of charge. By using geoKOAX
probes, the running phases of the
heat pump are minimized which
guarantees you a high-performance
climate management system with
up to 70% lower operating costs.
1.
rapid
amortization
Up to 65% lower drilling depths
compared with single probe systems
(and up to 60% compared with dou-
ble U-bendsystems), extensive incen-
tives in most countries (tax credit,
subsidies or equivalent) along with
minimal operating costs allow for a
rapid return on investment. A geo-
KOAX geothermal system significantly
increases the value of your property.
2.
highest energy
efficiency labels
Heat pumps and heat pump sys-
tems are the only heating / cooling
systems that will consistently achieve
the highest green label classes A+
to A+++ of the EU Energy Label
mandatory by September 2015.
These Energy Labels are the most
stringent worldwide.
3.
Innovative Heat Exchanger Technology
The next generation of energy production
The patented geoKOAX heat exchanger technol-
ogy enables the use of close-to-surface geother-
mal energy with drilling depths as low as 17ft /
5m. This not only reduces investment costs signif-
icantly, but also allows planners and developers
to adhere to official drilling depth limits.
The technological advantage: geoKOAX achieves
up to 65% more power in RT per probe meter.
We can help when conventional probe systems
fail, for example, when facing unexpected geo-
logical challenges (e.g. aquifers). geoKOAX sys-
tems work in difficult environments. Our probes
are exceptionally powerful and make geothermal
energy possible almost anywhere.
summer – cooling winter – heating
reliable
planning
Geothermal energy is now possi-
ble anywhere: Due to the low dril-
ling depths required, geoKOAX can
be deployed in sensitive areas with
drilling depth restrictions, as well as
on smaller properties such as urban
areas with high energy requirements
– reliably and predictably.
4.
close-to-surface,
safe
Risk-free and non-polluting geo-
thermal energy: We eliminate con-
cerns about possible breaches of
aquifers and protect the groundwa-
ter in geologically sensitive areas..
5.
sustainable and
environment-friendly
Geothermal energy is the most envi-
ronment-friendly form of heating
and cooling. With the use of bio-
electricity, operation of a ground
source heat pump can even be
CO2-free. In addition, geoKOAX
uses organic heat transfer fluids
from renewable resources (non-edible
corn) with additives approved food
use.
6.
geoKOAX
The innovation in geothermal energy
Reliable mono valence for heating and cooling
geoKOAX supplies the foundation
for a monovalent heating and cool-
ing system: based on the high-per-
formance heat exchanger tech-
nology, the heat pump supplies
heating and cooling energy as well
as domestic hot water.
As an alternative, geoKOAX can of
course also be used to supplement
existing heating and cooling sys-
tems on a multivalent basis. As a
source to cover the base heating
and cooling requirements of a build-
ing, the geoKOAX system can sub-
stantially reduce the demand from
other heating and cooling sources
such as a gas boilers and chillers.
Complete geothermal solutions from a single source
With our network of professionals
and a highly qualified team, we offer
you complete solutions related to our
patented technology for your project.
During the planning and design
phase, we use aggregated test re-
sults from comparable geoKOAX
systems, supported by expert
knowledge and professional proj-
ect management. Thus, we ensure
an optimal technical design of the
geothermal heat source and the
heat pump as well as the peripheral
components based on the heating
and cooling requirements of each
building. Each geoKOAX system is
accurately simulated and individu-
ally customized. Our experienced,
certified partner companies are
tasked with the drilling, installation
and the filling of the probes and
the backfilling and compressing
compaction of the borehole field. All
external installation work is carried
out up to the inner side of the base-
ment foundation wall and subject to
quality assurance testing. In addition,
we offer a geothermal monitoring
system (profitable from around
80kW) for the adjustment and con-
stant optimization of your system in
close coordination with the heating
installer or contractor of your choice
Thus, geoKOAX makes geothermal
energy reliable and exceptionally
cost-effective.
Geothermal energy – a reliable form of energy
geoKOAX
Technical advantages
No frost protection
requirements
The geoKOAX probe fields
are designed to operate in
the positive temperature
range. Therefore, it is possi-
ble to dispense with the
usual high concentration of
anti-freeze in favour of a
higher viscosity and ther-
mal conductivity.
The well-known problem of
conventional probes with
freeze-thaw cycles of the
backfilling is thus elimi-
nated.
Volume
The geoKOAX heat ex-
changer system features 13
times as much carrier fluid
volume as a single U-bend
system.
The coaxial tube serves to
store heat. This permits a
precise release of the re-
quired energy at a constant
temperature and also longer
resting periods of the heat
pump.
Low borehole
resistance
The concentric orientation
of the geoKOAX coaxial
tube ensures a uniform dis-
tance from the soil and thus
a better energy transmis-
sion compared with con-
ventional probes.
The significantly lower bore-
hole resistance results in an
energy absorption that is
at least more than twice as
high.
Contact surface area
The geometric concept of
the geoKOAX system means
that the contact surface
area for geothermal heat
is twice as large as that of
conventional geothermal
probes. As a result of the
smooth coating, the space
between the probe and the
soil is even. This ensures a
homogeneous filling of the
annular space without any
air pockets.
Turbulence
The core of the geoKOAX
heat exchanger technology
is passive turbulence. The
continuous change from
laminar flows to turbulent
flows increases the heat
transfer coefficient by 20%
in the case of a 9ft 10in /
3m probe and by up to
100% in the case of a 32ft
9in / 10m probe.

Technical University) Aachen).
Construction of a new residential and commercial
development with climate protection features
67 condominiums and commercial units in an area with drilling depth restrictions (190 kW, 54 RT))
• The inner-city housing development completed in
2014 has been recognized by the Energy Agency
of North-Rhine-Westphalia (a large state in
Germany) as "climate protection development"
and received state funding.
• With drilling depth restriction of 31m and a lim-
ited plot size, geoKOAX was the only probe sys-
tem with a guaranteed required heat output of
190 kW (54 RT).
• The use of geoKOAX geothermal probes allow-
ed for a reduction of the drilling depth by
35% compared to the original design with
duplex probes. This led to a saving of 4,920 of
feet drilled (Source: tewag GmbH), and
around 25% of drilling costs.

• As part of the complete retrofitting of the apart-
ment block dating from the 1960’s, the existing oil
heating was replaced with a geothermal heating
system. It fully meets heating requirements of
100 kW (28,5 RT).
• The redevelopment plan initially focused on du-
plex probes. Since the area lies in a water protec-
tion zone with a drilling depth restriction of
128ft / 39m, the system had to be changed:
The required heat output could only be guaranteed
with geoKOAX probes – with a reduction of 47%
in drilling length and 36% lower investment costs.
• The conversion to geothermal energy has resulted
in annual savings of 69% in terms of CO2 emis-
sions and 73% in terms of operating costs.
• The system generated a positive return on
investment after just 5 years!
