Based Learning;-Brain-1
- Brain-based Learning is about understanding how the brain works, and how this
understanding enhances Teaching and Learning.
Today's learners need to be critical and creative thinkers, and Brain-Based Learning
lays the foundation for this.
- One way to see if you really infuse the brain in learning is to see how many of
these are used in a single lesson.
- Discovery? - Inquiry? - Games? - Experiments? - Research? - Drills? - Hands-On? -
Arts integration? - Play? - Creating an object? - Using a textbook? - Technology-driven? -
Discussion? - Practice? - Writing?
- Not all students process information the same way.
Left-Hemispheric Processors Right-Hemispheric Processors
· Respond to verbal instruction
· depend on words and language for
meaning
· prefer a step-by-step lesson where details
and facts build one upon the other in a
logical order
· succeed with well-structured assignments
· respond to visual, kinesthetic and
demonstrative instruction
· depend on images and pictures for
meaning
· prefer a holistic overview so they know
where the lesson is going and can then
learn by exploration and discovery.
Here’s how to include activities for both the left- and right-brain processors
in your class.

Using The Table Helps Both Right Hemispheric and Left Hemispheric Learners.
- The table helps the right hemispheric learners as they prefer a holistic overview so
they know where the lesson is going and can then learn by exploration and discovery.
- The Table also helps the left hemispheric learners as they prefer a step-by-step lesson
where details and facts build one upon the other in a logical order.
