Our Software Story – it is about how we will fit together technologies – that allow for elegantly connected services At the platform level, you can see Nokia follows a portfolio approach. (doesn’t show Series 30). One of our strengths has, and still is, being able to offer devices across a complete spectrum of users, and price points – from Nokia 1202 at 24 Euro’s to newly announced N900. As we look at the Application Level, for those of you have invested years in mobile development, you would know developing for Symbian takes skill. It’s tough work – and certainly when its done right it is a beautiful thing. But .. It’s tough work. It’s important going forward that we enable a larger, much larger, developer audience. From professional ISV’s, Service and Content Providers, Web and IT Shops and even Casual Developers. A complex language like Symbian C++ is not appropriate. Java and Flash are good, and will continue to be available to developers thru the platforms. But another factor needs to be incorporated, which is cross platform. Not just across mobile but across desktop, mobile and in increasing cases embedded devices. (think automotive, think health care, think gaming, think…. ) What Nokia has done, is abstract from the platform level.. 1) offer web run time. We use standard internet technologies: html, css and javascript. Plus a little mix of platform services to create very cool applications. More on that later.. 2) thru it’s acquisition of Trolltech, offer Qt. This is a cross platform application framework.. What does that mean.. Not only is Qt write-once, deploy anywhere; but it is also native coding. So you get performance, you get multi-tasking, you get dynamic API’s. (more on that later.. ) Finally, we have talked plenty during Nokia world about Ovi and in particular Ovi Maps. The key developer message here, is that Ovi is open. 3 rd party developers can extend their applications into the Ovi ecosystem and provide value to our consumer and differentiation to their consumer (one in the same person). We will allow WRT to do this, we will allow Qt to do this.
- Ovi is Nokia’s consumer Internet Services, aiming for 300 millions active users by 2011 - Nokia is giving access to developers industry leading contextual Ovi platform With the Ovi API’s and Ovi SDK beta, Nokia is making it easier for web publishers and developers to create relevant applications with integrated services and native-like user interfaces both for mobile and web.
Primary distribution channel Worldwide coverage Your content Important thing: if and when you publish to Ovi Store: pls let me know – I might be able to find other opportunities for selected apps
Summary - The online banner generator enabled Ovi Store publishers to upload their brand logo, choose an Ovi color pallet and produce a co-branded "Available on Ovi Store" co-branded banner. The publisher can then embed their banner code. Banner hosting is provided by Nokia
