11. Cutting
• Stainless steel forms are cut into specific shapes in this step
• With the aid of;
• Guillotine knives
• Blanking
• Nibbling
• High speed blades
12. Finishing
• Stainless steel achieve its signature aesthetically appealing appearance
• Make the stainless steel product smooth and easier to clean
13. Common Grades
• Rebar(steel rod) is usually manufactured in two grades for domestic
utilization in Pakistan where the grade indicates its minimum yield strength:
• -Grade 40
• -Grade 60
• Grade 60 is mostly used material
14. Standard For Quality Steel
American Standard forTesting and Materials or ASTM A615 (Grade 60)
• Strength: 60,000 PSI
• Tensile strength: 90,000 PSI
• Production range: From 3” to 12” or 10mm to 40mm
• Tensile toYield Strength Ratio > 1.25.
15. Testing of material
• Manufactured steel is tested by different machines for different parameters
• Testing by UTM
17. Procedure forTension test
• Preparation of Specimen
• Range Calculation
• Placing the Specimen
• Placing Extensometer
• Load Application
• Important Load Points
19. Seven Major Sector of Steel Application
1.Buildings and infrastructure, 51%
2.Mechanical equipment, 15%
3.Automotive, 12%
4.Metal products, 11%
5.Other transport, 5%
6.Domestic appliances, 3%
7.Electrical equipment, 3%
20. Conclusion
From this visit, we got information and practical knowledge about mechanical,
Chemical and negative tolerance of steel. We learnt about grades of steel its
different processes and testing etc. we all were benefited from this visit and
we got chance to discuss with working at plant.
Thus, this site visit was very delightful and we had a great knowledgeable
experience. We were really satisfied and had a great time.
