News can mean many things,
one being that it is a report of
recent events published to the
members of public. The types
of reports that news publish
must be newsworthy stories.
3. What makes news, newsworthy?
Newsworthy means when the news reports are worthy enough to be put out
there in public and people take interest in it.
Newsworthiness depends on what kind of news the audience enjoys and would
likely read or listen to it. Audience love entertainment and it’s exactly what the
media is giving what the audience most prefers.
Many things can make news, newsworthy, like:
-conflict, scandals, local news, new news, shocking, incidence and many more.
4. Local News
Local news, covers recent events of a local area. Local news, wouldn’t
particularly interest people outside of a local area. It covers news such as:
-the local sports, crime, weather, events, business and much more.
Local news highly interests many people as they usually provide news that are
relevant to the local people and they let people know what is going in their area,
which is important to many people. For example, people living in East London
have the ‘East End Life’ delivered to their doorstep, providing them of what is
going on in their local area.
5. Hard News Vs Soft News
Soft News:
It covers news which isn’t so serious and
typically contains entertainment, stories
human interest.
Hard News:
It covers serious news and important issues
e.g. serious murder cases
It contains themes of crime, politics,
business, economics.
Hard news is usually the front-page news as
it usually covers important issues.
