7. 2009 Canadian Financial Capability Survey
measured five domains
 Making ends meet
 Keeping track
 Planning ahead
 Choosing products
 Staying informed

8. Survey results showed both strengths
and weaknesses
 25% of Canadians showed no difficulty in
any of the 5 domains.
 20% of Canadians had difficulty in three
domains: Keeping Track, Planning Ahead,
and Staying Informed.
 Another 20% weak in these areas plus at
least one more domain.
 Seniors scored lower than younger adults
on 4 of 5 domains.

9. New online tools and resources
for self-assessment
In 2014 we will launch:
 A “one-stop-shop” financial education
database to access government, non-
profit and private resources; and
 A self-assessment tool that individuals
can use to gauge financial literacy
levels
