 There were 43,700 childminders registered with Ofsted as at 31 August 2017.
 Down 800 (2%) since 31 March 2017, and down 14,700 (26%) since 31 August 2012.

 The overall number of childcare places offered by early years registered
providers has remained fairly stable since August 2012.
 There are currently 1.3 million places available.
