Uneak White's Personal Brand Exploration Presentation
Building a Personal Brand Through Social Media - PUP Manila
1.
2. Personal Branding is basically how people
remember you and how you present
yourself.
It is more than just a trademark for it
focuses on you as a person - your
experience, talents, character, and unique
point of view.
Good or bad personal BRAND, you can
CHANGE IT for the better.
3. This doesn’t mean self-promotion which usually
means posting only ABOUT YOU, your selfies, your
foods, travels, and other narcissistic posts.
ME attitude these days are rampant, its self-
promotion and must be avoided.
Managing your positive personal brand requires you
to be a great role model, mentor, and/or a voice that
others can depend upon.
4. Nielson Consumer Survey found that only
33% of buyers trust messages from a brand, while
90% trust messages from an individual they know.
Developing your personal brand is essential for the
advancement of your career and development not only as a
leader, but also as a trustworthy business owner.

7. Successful personal branding has 5 key aspects:
1. Authenticity – Your personal brand should show who you actually are.
It should reflect your strengths, your preferences, your interests, etc.
2. Consistency – The way you project yourself, and the way you
communicate with your audience should be consistent across all the
platforms you use.
8. 3. Expertise – The most successful influencers build their expertise within
a specific industry, vertical or niche.
4. Story – A great story tells people who you are, what you stand for,
and how you got to where you are today.
5. Visibility - You need to be actively promoting yourself and marketing
your personal brand on your social media profiles, your personal website
or blog, on web forums, etc.
9. Step 1: Decide on what personal brand you want to build.
Every brand is based on a few qualities.
For instance, Apple is often described as fun,
slick, stylish, cutting-edge, reliable, and virus-
free.
10. You need to do the same. Choose a handful qualities
about yourself that you want to be known for.
Maybe you are witty, a movie buff, a fashion
aficionado, or a digital marketing expert.
Remember: Don’t pretend to be someone you are
not because of it won't work.
11. Step 2: Showcase your personality
When showcasing your personality, you need to: show your
charm and be yourself and let people see the genuine you.
The best way to do it is by joining groups that will
allow you to share your experiences with people
who have same or relevant interest as yours.
12. Connecting with and even collaborating with influencers is
another effective way to build your personal brand and get
yourself seen, but it takes time. You have to develop a
relationship with influencers before they’ll want to work with
you.
Privacy is an important factor to consider when building your
personal brand on social media. Balance with the things that
you post online and be responsible enough to have a
meaningful contribution to the online community.
13. Step 3: Personalize Your Posts
With so many brands and people establishing
their online presence nowadays, it’s easy to be
left unheard if you do not have a branding that’s
uniquely yours.
Social media has the distinct lack of establishing a
personality using the conventional cues we often receive in
face-to-face conversations, such as facial expressions, tone,
and pitch of voice, body language, etc.
14. By personalizing your posts, you are
bypassing this limit and providing your
audience with the image that you want
them to imagine of you — as if you and
your audience are standing in front of
each other and engaging in a real-life
discussion.
15. Step 4: Focus on One Network First
Focusing on so many accounts at the same time —
especially if you are just starting out — can needlessly
exhaust you.
It is essential to build your brand on one network first, then
think about expanding later when you have managed to
establish and solidify your branding in your primary network.
16. The best place to start is Facebook, as it is relatively
easy to clear out the details and experiment with
your branding on this platform due to its flexibility.
Among the many benefits of starting out with Facebook are the following:
You are not restricted to a particular type of post
you can make. You can opt for images, videos, GIFs,
polls, simple status updates, notes/documents,
links, etc.
17. There is a large post character limit — 63,206 characters. This
gives you hardly any limit on how much you can say in one
post.
Likewise, you can comment up to 8,000 characters,
describe your page in 155 characters, and name your
page/profile within 50 characters.
You can easily edit, schedule, and backdate posts. This is
helpful if you need more refinement of your posting and
scheduling, ensuring that you can still stay relevant to your
audiences even when you are offline.
18. Facebook has 2.01 billion monthly active
users as of June 30, 2017
which means that you will be able to connect more with the
market and more accurately observe their response to your
branding.
19. Step 5: Be Consistent
Personal branding is all about establishing an image and
then making that image connect back to you. A brand is
built on consistency, on a familiar design, tone, and
foundation.
It can also be torn down by just a few instances of
inconsistency.
20. It must be memorable, as people are more likely to
remember you if you have managed to associate yourself
with certain aspects, such as your voice, color schemes,
posts, comments, posting times and schedules, etc.
Pick a specific style and stick to it across all your posts and
comments — and across platforms when you have ventured
out. Keep a uniform schedule for posting based on the
activity times of your intended audience.
21. This not only helps you reinforce your brand
personality but also makes you more accustomed to
using it in all your social media activity.
22. Step 6: Focus on Value
A key component of building a personal brand
is knowing what you have to offer your audience.
What exactly are you giving them in exchange for
their time and attention?
23. Whether you plan to offer resources for digital marketing
tips, fashion advice, or to be an expert on the local music
scene, you need to be able to communicate it clearly to
your audience.
Boil it down to a single sentence you can use if someone
asked you to describe yourself, and you are all good to go.
24. Step 7: Established yourself as an authority via content marketing
Content marketing allows us to tell a story about whom we
are while showcasing our brand.
Through text or video blogging, for instance, you will be able to
discuss certain things that you find interesting, which in turn
shows your unique thinking and mindset to your target audience.
25. It also allows us to expand your personal brand
presence. Generating high-quality content is the
backbone of social, SEO, and email marketing strategies,
which is to say that content marketing the single biggest
way that creates value for brands of all shapes and sizes.
Routinely creating and sharing your distinct content
is an easy way to turn your brand into an asset that’s
creating value for you in the real world.
