Majority of the immigrants are economic class meaningPermanent residents selected for their skills and ability to contribute to Canada's economy. The economic immigrant category includes skilled workers, business immigrants, provincial or territorial nominees, live-in caregivers and Canadian Experience Class. Ontario attracts about 50% of the immigrants to Canada (around 125,000 per year)In order to benefit from the immigrant talent pool, rural community has to have connectivity with the changing immigration scenario and development of the programs to assist in professional integration both in regulated and non regulated professions.CIIP enables immigrants to prepare effectively overseas to meet credential, language and skill requirements to achieve economic integration in Canada.
The rural community needs to attract skilled immigrants for boosting creative rural economy. The important consideration to the process is understanding programs and networks already in place in the urban centres and connecting to them so that as a rural community you have access to the program resources at the fraction of the cost and not reinvent the whole wheel
In 2009 Canada had 252,179 new permanent residents. Each permanent resident brings $10,000 as a settlement fund plus $2000 for each family member thereafter. This translates to approximately 2 billion dollars boost to the Canadian economyEntrepreneur: In 2009 this category immigrant dropped down to 372 and they come with a minimum of $300,000Provincial /Territorial Nominee Program: Persons who immigrate to Canada under the Provincial Nominee Program have the skills, education and work experience needed to make an immediate economic contribution to the province or territory that nominates them.
This is another growing category of permanent residents in Canada and brings new talents to the Canadian shore. The advantage is two fold it contributes to the academic institutions and creating a skilled professional talent pool with a know how of a Canadian work culture and systems.
