The Guild School model (Flexible pathways) is based on peer learning among students, where mistakes are allowed and understood as a positive aspect of learning. The basic principles of flexible learning pathways are that information is shared transparently and all information is communal. The master-journeyman-apprentice model is implemented with cognitive learning principles. In the Guild School model, active learners acquire strong professional skills and working life skills in practical work by exploiting digital media and media. An entrepreneurial attitude towards new learning and engagement goes a long way.
In the Guild School model active vocational students, utilizing digital tools and media, gain strong professional and working life skills in practical work tasks. The entrepreneurial attitude towards learning new things and getting involved in action carries a long time. Teamwork and coaching skills are up-to-date, and competence-based learning to observe, document, and reflect on your own work support the growth of your professional skills during your career. The development of knowledge, skills and attitude in the areas of expertise will continue throughout life and will also benefit the student in future when changing the professional field and expanding skills.
Guild School method will be used in the project from the planning phase on: Using the flexible learning pathways can be seen as a kind of a pedagogical model. The key benefits of peer learning are that it supports learning new things in a new way and helps to use one’s expertise in practice. All information is available to everyone, e.g. through web site or social media. Teacher’s role is to guide, give advice and make sure that the students gain job-specific skills that are crucial in today’s rapidly evolving labor market.
