3. Why CCPLv4?
Grants everybody the right to reproduce and redistribute, in
verbatim or modified versions (necessary for full OA)
Sui generis database right (SGDR) is included in the scope
(together with copyright and other related rights)
All these rights will follow conditions such as BY - SA
Does not export SGDR where it does not exist
It is well known and interoperable
It is also almost ready!!!

4. And CCPLv3?
So far (if you cannot wait) is ok, but:
The “unported” version does not include the SGDR, therefore
you cannot use it!!!
In the version “ported” to EU jurisdictions (check!) SGDR is
waived (not licensed) therefore BY/SA etc will not apply to it.

5. Major differences v3 and v4
●
3 is ready; 4 should be ready in weeks!
●
3 waives SGDR; 4 licenses it
●
3 is ported; 4 will only be translated
●
3 has general clause of reservation; 4 doesn't
●
3 is ported or unported; 4 is international

8.
9.
10. Other licenses
There are but standardization and interoperability
are fundamental aspects
CC0 can be a good solution for data, but it is a
waiver not a license (eg no attribution)
In OA+ we recommend the use of CCPLv4 BY(SA)
