core democratic values, but also to opportunities to learn citizenship skills and apply them

integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning

experiential
education where
learning occurs
through a cycle of
action and
reflection as
students seek to
achieve real
objectives for the
community and
deeper
understanding and
skills for
themselves.

10. A monitoring project strengthens the dialogue with the institutions. Through interviews with
stakeholders students can also overcome the natural skepticism that usually occurs towards
policy makers.
The monitoring process makes the future citizen more aware of his role and of the power of
access and control that he can exercise over public affairs
11. The monitoring research carried out, allows students to turn the spotlight on themes and topics and
interventions in the territories, in order to involve the reference community.
Provide opportunities for input to students and the community in the design of the monitoring learning
experience;
Provide opportunities for reflection on the monitoring experience and on the connections between this
experience, democratic values and citizenship;
Focus on change, enabling students to question prevailing norms and develop new ideas for creating a
more just and equitable society.
