Open JC, a project of FAF, presented deck on April 28, 2015 to Jersey City South Greenville Neighborhood Association, one of three neighborhood associations participating in the Jersey City Public Safety Alert System's Pilot. Open JC has been has been awarded just over $250,000 from a Google Ideas grant made through the Tides Foundation, to pilot a ‘smart’ crime alert system for Jersey City residents in partnership with the City. Through the pilot program, residents in the selected areas will receive alerts on their mobile devices based on crime incidents from the Jersey City Police Department’s open data from the 911 system.
