1. DZBB
• GMA Super Radyo DZBB 594 (pronounced DZ-
double-B) (594 kHz Metro Manila) is
the flagship AM station of Radio GMA
Network, Inc. (RGMA, a subsidiary of GMA
Network, Inc.) in the Philippines.
• At present, Super Radyo DZBB 594 is considered
as one of the top stations in the AM band
in Metro Manila and is recognized as one of the
most awarded radio stations in the Philippines by
the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas or
KBP.
2. DZMM
• ABS-CBN DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 (630 kHz Metro Manila)
is the flagship AM station of ABS-CBN Corporation in
the Philippines.
• At present, DZMM is considered as one of the top stations
in the AM band in Metro Manila and is recognized as one of
the most awarded radio stations in the Philippines by
the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas.
• DZMM is also simulcast via The Filipino Channel and also
has a television channel on SkyCable & Destiny
Cable named DZMM TeleRadyo where the studio and hosts
of its programs can be seen by its listeners and viewers.
3. DZRH
• DZRH (666 kHz Metro Manila) is a radio station in Metro
Manila owned and operated by the Manila Broadcasting Company.
• DZRH is the oldest radio station in the Philippines by the Kapisanan
ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas or KBP. It broadcasts nationwide
through an array of relay stations, each with its own frequency, re-
broadcasting the national feed from satellite.
• DZRH can also be heard on the internet, with various interactive
features; a live chatroom where listeners can feed comments to the
station in real-time, two modes of VOIP that can be used to call the
station and participate in open-line discussions, and an online
discussion forum called "Damdaming Bayan Online".
• Though it is one of the oldest radio station in the Philippines, DZRH
was not the first. The first radio station in the Philippines was the
now defunct KZKZ, which began broadcasting from Manila in 1922.
4. DZRV
• Radio Veritas (DZRV 846 kHz Metro Manila) is a 24-hour Roman Catholic AM station
owned and operated by the Archdiocese of Manila through the Global Broadcasting
System in the Philippines.
• April 11, 1969 - Radyo Veritas was inaugurated with Asian bishops as guests. Antonio
Cardinal Samore represented Pope Paul VI.
• November 29, 1970 - Pope Paul VI blessed Radyo Veritas studios with
President Ferdinand E. Marcos as one of the guests.
• August 21, 1983 - Radyo Veritas became a byword with its coverage of events related
to the assassination of former Senator Benigno S. Aquino, Jr.
• February 22–25, 1986 - Radyo Veritas kept the nation and the world informed of the
famous People Power Revolution, after Jaime Cardinal Sin called on the Filipino faithful
to support Defense Minister Juan Ponce Enrile and PC Chief Lt. General Fidel V.
Ramos, which eventually brought Corazon Aquino to the presidency.
• May 17, 1991 - Radyo Veritas begun its commercial operations as DZNN.
• January 16–20, 2001 - DZRV-Radyo Veritas was once again in the forefront of
contemporary Philippine history when Jaime Cardinal Sin called on the Filipino faithful
to gather at the EDSA Shrine for EDSA People Power II. Millions gathered and called on
President Joseph Estrada to leave Malacañang and hand over the leadership to Vice
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
5. DZUP
• DZUP 1602 (1602 kHz in Metro Manila) is a low-
power AM campus radio station owned and
operated by the University of the Philippines
Diliman. It broadcasts from the 2nd floor, Media
Center of the College of Mass
Communication, U.P. Diliman campus, inQuezon
City. While its transmitter is located at Delos
Reyes St., UP Village, Diliman, QC. It is being used
as a laboratory for the Broadcast Communication
students of the university. Its programming
includes music programs and request shows to
informative segments and talk shows.
6. DZBF
• DEL Radio - Radyo Marikina (1674 kHz Metro
Manila) is a low-power AM station owned and
operated by the Marikina City
Government through its Public Information
Office. The station's studio is located at 2nd
floor of Marikina City Hall, Shoe Ave.,Marikina
City, while its transmitter is at the Engineering
Center, Gil Fernando Ave cor. Aquilina St.
in Marikina City. DEL Radio - Radyo Marikina
can be heard on the internet.
7. KZKZ
• KZKZ (729 kHz AM) was the second radio station in
the Philippines. It began broadcasting in 1922 and was
founded by Henry Hermann, the owner of the Electrical
Supply Company in Manila. The station was upgraded in
1924 to a 100-watt station and its call letters KZKZ were
adopted. Later that year, the station was sold to the Radio
Corporation of the Philippines.
• The first radio broadcast in the Philippines was made in
1922 from Nichols air field by using a five-watt transmitter.
• In 1926, the organization began work on constructing two
of the largest radio stations in Asia with the idea of
maintaining direct Manila-San Francisco service.
