2. St. Peter's Square is an open
urban space that is located in
the Vatican City, within the city
of Rome, and precedes, as a
large periptera room, the
Basilica of San Pedro, the great
temple of Catholicism. It was
entirely projected by Gian
Lorenzo Bernini between 1656
and 1667. The dimensions of
the square are spectacular: 320
meters long and 240 meters
wide. In the liturgies and more
noticeable events St. Peter's
Square has held more than
300,000 people. The most
impressive part of the square,
besides its size, are its 284
columns and 88 pilasters that
flank the square in a colonnade
of four rows. Above the columns
there are 140 statues of saints
created in 1670 by the disciples
of Bernini.

The Sydney Opera House or
Sydney Opera House, located in

Wales State, Australia, is one of

buildings of the twentieth
century. Declared a World
Heritage Site in 2007, it was
designed by the Danish architect
Jørn Utzon in 1957 and
inaugurated on October 20,
1973 by her Majesty Queen
Elizabeth II, in her role as Queen
of Australia.

Edinburgh Castle is an old
fortress erected on a rock of
volcanic origin located in the
center of the city of Edinburgh. It
has been used for military
purposes since the twelfth
century, being used for civil
purposes only in very recent
times. It is located at the top of
Castlehill Street, one of the four
streets that form the Royal Mile.
The castle is open to visitors and
is managed by the specialized
agency Historic Scotland. It is
the most visited tourist attraction
in Scotland. [2]
Three of its sides are protected
by steep cliffs, and access to the
castle is limited to a steeply
sloping street on the eastern
side of the castle. In the past
there was an artificial lake in its
northern zone. This lake, called
Nor'Loch (northern lake in
Spanish), was drained in the
Georgian era with the
construction of the New Town, to
be used as an open-air sewer
and later as a park. It was from
this moment when the citadel
lost most of its defensive role.

4. Construction of the Burj Khalifa
began in 2004, with the exterior
completed five years later in
2009. The primary structure is
reinforced concrete. The building
was opened in 2010 as part of a
new development called
Downtown Dubai. It is designed
to be the centrepiece of large-
scale, mixed-use development.
The decision to construct the
building is based on the
government's decision to
diversify from an oil-based
economy, and for Dubai to gain
international recognition. The
building was originally named
Burj Dubai but was renamed in
honour of the ruler of Abu Dhabi
and president of the United Arab
Emirates, Khalifa bin Zayed Al
Nahyan; Abu Dhabi and the UAE
government lent Dubai money to
pay its debts. The building broke
numerous height records,
including its designation as the
tallest building in the world.
