Agriculture and Land Reclamation.
700 staff of the Unit has been responsible for
the implementation of the Egyptian Government
agreements with WFP since 1970 until now.
These agreements were implemented in Lands
that have been targeted of reclamation
operations in some Governorates such as Kafr El-
Sheikh, Behaira, Marsa Matrouh, Beni Suef,
Fayoum, Assiut, Sohag and Aswan.
4. From 2006 to 2008 the EACDP prepared and
implemented a vocational training center in
the Governorate of Assiut. Based on the
results of a market survey, training courses in
sewing and knitting were organized.
Specialists were hired from nearby villages,
to train women trainers (TOT), in the local
communities. From 2008 to 2010 about 150
women were trained. Now this training
center is producing clothes for the market
5. During the period mentioned above, EACDP
implemented vocational training courses on dairy
products in the Sedeek El-Menshawy village, Dar
El-Salaam center in Sohag Governorate.
The center is managed by the local Agricultural
Cooperative Association. At the beginning of the
implementation,
EACDP hired a specialist in dairy production from
the Institute of Agricultural Cooperation; using
the Trainer of Trainers (TOT) methodology,
trained ten members of cooperative who, in
turn, have trained members of the local
community. Since 2010, products are sold to
cover the administrative costs.
6. Since 2005 EACDP provided hand crafts
training for the pioneers of rural women in
the villages of the High Dam Lake (Bshaier El-
Khair, Kalbsha) in Aswan Governatorate;
EACDP depend on them to train women from
the Nubian and some residents of nearby
villages of the High Dam Lake.
Furthermore, EACDP contracted with some
tourist hotels to set up an annual exhibition
for marketing of products.
7. From 2007 until now, and through its project
in Red Sea Governorate which is
implemented in Shalatin, Marsa Alam, Al-
kosair and targeted Bedouins communities of
the eastern desert,
EACDP carried out training programs to
develop the handmade carpets production
skills, through a contract with specialists. It
also trained them on embroidery home
furnishings, opened a marketing outlet in
Marsa Alam for this purpose, and participated
in the marketing exhibitions in Cairo and
Aswan.
