Advantages:
The heat exchanger in the outdoor units has been re-designed. The refrigerant tubes have been reduced from 8mm to 7mm allowing more tubes to be added. This means we have more refrigerant passes and a greater level of heat exchange due to the increase in surface area. This re-design has also enabled us to enhance the nominal and seasonal efficiency levels. The compressor has been changed from a scroll to a double/dual swing compressor. Swing compressors are generally more efficient as they have less moving parts. The design of the compressor also means better efficiency at partial load conditions meaning higher SEER.

In January 2003 the European Union passed the Energy performance of Buildings directive. This was to be made into law by the member states by January 2006 with a further 3 years grace to finalise local details.
So why support it EPBD?# 160 000 000 emit 40% CO2 etc# 22% saving by 2010# 45 m tones CO2# or 13.6 % of Kyoto European target
These are accompanied by updated Compliance guidesWhereas the four main Part L documents are passed by parliament, these two compliance guides are maintained by DEFRA and can be amended or expanded without requiring permission from parliament for changes to the approved documentsThese are Domestic Building Services Compliance Guide (DBSCG)Non-Domestic Building Services Compliance Guide (NDBSG)
Compliance is gained by attaining an overall CO2 emissions targetAll data about the building is fed into the SBEM program. It then creates a notational building based on standards set in 2002 with a further improvement figure (20% heating only 27% if cooling). The same input figures are used to make a model of the actual building as are used for the actual results.SBEM is a free tool you can download from the web.
This regulation came about as a result of some people wanting to ban all refrigerants because they see them as the destroyers of our planet. The compromise was to create a control over the use to prevent damage.# The main focus being# Containment if it can be ‘kept in’ it has GWP of zero# Recovery, having kept it in whenever it has to extracted then it must be done without any loss# Record Keeping In order to check on whether the regulation is being followed then an account from initial supply to eventual destruction must be kept.# It is all about preventing global warming
EC legislation 2037/2000 has prohibited the use of all HCFC’s (R22) for servicing and maintenance of equipment since 31st December 2009.Only “recycled” R22 is now available. The use of “recycled” R22 will be banned on 31st December 2014.
Replacing old equipment can have a number of benefits. As technology changes accelerate over the last few years, the efficiency of equipment has risen by up to 50 % giving you the potential to reduce both running costs and the impact on the environment. Maintenance call outs will reduce by having new, more reliable equipment that is supplied with a new warranty. For the highest performing equipment there are even tax incentives that can be claimed against the installed price.
