Oyent Hazryl
Oyent needs no introduction. He has
been smashing the local pub scene with
his live-wire energy, strong stage
presence and exceptional fluency with
Spanish hits. He has had extremely
successful years in music with his
recording band JR Five, where he
composed and penned lyrics for most of
their tracks, acoustic pub band’
Acoustica for almost a decade, and his
most recent pub band, the flamenco
pop band ‘Magnifico’.
Apart from being featured on the many
RTM and TV3 programmes, Oyents most
recent feat was performing for musical
maestro AR Rahman at the press
conference of his Infinite Love 2014
concert here in KL.
Oyent started off as a back-up singer/percussionist with Istana Budaya after graduating from
the National Arts Academy (ASWARA), majoring in music performance and traditional
vocals. His strong voice and good range enables him to sing a variety of tunes while playing
percussions. His repertoire consist of English, Malay, Spanish, Latin Chinese and Tagalog
cover songs. Fans favourites include ‘Hijau’by Zainal Abidin, Kau Ilhamku by Man Bai,
‘Bamboleo’ and ‘Volare’ by the Gypsy Kings and ‘Pride’ by U2 which he sings with utmost
conviction. Oyent Hazryl carries along with him his superb showmanship, spontaneous antics
and naturally pleasant personality.
Currently pursuing a Diploma in Counseling Psychology at University of Malaya, and gaining
experience and exposure at the AADK center, Oyent aims to achieve a position in which he
can apply his musical knowledge and analytical skills with the ultimate goal of using music to
improve mental health and well-being.
