This presentation reviews efforts by Cowlitz-Wahkiakum (WA) Council of Governments to develop a
Disaster Resiliency Program for the Cowlitz-Lewis Economic Development District. The program goals
were to first understand the concerns of area business people and the hazard risks they faced and then
develop a series of five (5) training and information modules. The first module includes very basic
information about disasters in the area with no actionable items. Each successive module includes
additional information and recommended actions that could be taken by those area businesses with the
time and resources to be better prepared that would be low or no cost and require little time and effort.
The final module includes information on how an area business could conduct a full Business Continuity
Plan and a list of resources that could help the business build their BCP.
