POOLSAFE press release 2015_v1
1. Swimming pool water treatment project receives over €1Million in EU
funding
POOLSAFE will provide an effective and
efficient solution to the cyanuric acid (CYA)
problem through the development of a soft
sensor to monitor the levels of CYA and other
pool water quality parameters, as well as a
simple, cost-effective method for degrading
excess CYA, using photocatalysis.
Project Kick off Meeting held in Madrid in July 2014
With its two-fold method of ensuring that
CYA never reach a hazardous level,
POOLSAFE will reduce the environmental
impact of swimming pool maintenance by
eliminating the need to periodically
replace the pool water. This will provide
improved safety to bathers by ensuring
that chlorine activity is not blocked by an
excess of CYA and the subsequent lack of
sanitation of water, and ensure
compliance with health and safety
regulations for pool water.
POOLSAFE partners are from universities and SME (small/medium enterprises) which
includes:
• Diasa Industrial S.A (Coordinator) (Spain)
• T.E. Laboratories (Ireland)
• Euro Filtr'eaux (France)
• Ocio Sport (Spain)
• Instituto de Biologia Experimental
Tecnológica (Portugal)
• Tecnologías Avanzadas Inspiralia (Spain)
POOLSAFE is funded by the European Union in the Seventh Framework Programme.
2. This project began in July 2014 and will finish in June 2016.
