If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake?
A
lovely little girl was
holding two apples with
both hands. Her mum
came in and softly asked her
little daughter with a smile: “my
sweetie, could you give your
mum one of your two apples?”
The girl looked up at her mum
for some seconds, then she
suddenly took a quick bite on
one apple, and then quickly on
the other.
The mum felt the smile on her
face freeze. She tried hard not to
reveal her disappointment. Then
the little girl handed one of her
bitten apples to her mum, and
said: mummy, here you are. This
is the sweeter one.
No matter who you are, how
experienced you are, and how
knowledgeable you think you
are, always delay judgement.
Give others the privilege to
explain themselves. What you
see may not be the reality. Never
conclude for others. Which is
why we should never only focus
on the surface and judge others
without understanding them
first.
Those who like to pay the bill,
do so not because they are
loaded, but because they value
friendship above money. Those
who take the initiative at work,
do so not because they are stupid
but because they understand the
concept of responsibility. Those
who apologize first after a fight,
do so not because they are wrong
but because they value the
people around them. Those who
are willing to help you, do so not
because they owe you anything
but because they see you as a
true friend. Those who often text
you, do so not because they have
nothing better to do but because
you are in their heart.
One day, all of us will get
separated from each other; we
will miss our conversations
of everything & nothing; the
dreams that we had. Days will
pass by, months, years, until this
contact becomes rare… One
day our children will see our
pictures and ask “Who are these
people? “And we will smile with
invisible tears because a heart is
touched with a strong word and
you will say: “IT WAS THEM
THAT I HAD THE BEST DAYS
OF MY LIFE WITH”
Always Delay Judgement
A
man flying in a hot air
balloon realizes he is
lost. He reduces his
altitude and spots a man in a
field down below. He lowers
the balloon further and shouts,
“Excuse me, can you tell me
where I am?”
The man below says, “Yes,
you’re in a hot air balloon, about
30 feet above this field.”
“You must be an engineer,” says
the balloonist.
“I am. How did you know?”
“Everything you told me is
technically correct, but it’s of no
use to anyone.”
The man below says, “You must
be in management.”
“I am. But how did you know?”
“You don’t know where you are,
or where you’re going, but you
expect me to be able to help.
You’re in the same position you
were before we met, but now it’s
my fault.”

You can’t cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water.
W
e all encounter a va-
riety of problems in
our life. Problems
are an inevitable part of life. We
simply can’t escape or ignore
these problems. Problems have
the capacity to polish or pollute
you. It is you who decides what
you will become with the prob-
lem; polished or polluted. If you
handle it effectively you come
out polished; if not then polluted.
There are some problems which
do not have any solution. They
simply stay with you for uncertain
period, sometimes forever. You
try to understand it, solve it but all
in vein. Why? Because; it does not
haveanysolutionatleastasofnow.
So what to do with these kinds of
problems! Dis-solve them. Yes,
all problems do not dissolve with
time. Some need your attention
and consideration. So you dis-
solve it by not trying to solve it.
Then what you do; you change
the way you think about it. You
think in a different way. You look
at the brighter side of the story.
When you change your thoughts
about the problem; it is no longer
an obstacle. Suddenly it disap-
pears. It does not disturb you the
way it used to. You did not solve
it; you simply dissolved it by
changing your thought about it.

HereI’mgoingtodescribetwoofhis
experiences that are known to me.
Those days we used to stay at
Rourkela, Odisha as both my par-
ents were working there. We used
to visit our ancestral home once or
twice a year. During one such trip,
when we were a few kilometers
away from our ancestral home,
we decided to stop and visit the
ancient Devi maa temple like ev-
ery time. We went for Darshan af-
ter parking our car. By the time we
finished our ‘puja’ and were back
to the parking lot, we found one
middle-aged lady with her 8-10
yrs old son waiting for us. They
looked very poor and frail. The
son was apparently in pain. The
lady, seeing the “red cross” on our
car, approached my father. My fa-
ther checked him up thoroughly
and asked a few questions related
to his pain. He gave few tablets
that he was carrying along. In re-
turn he didn’t charge any money
from them as usual. He refuses if
anyone offers money for the treat-
ment as he believes that he is al-
ready being paid by the Govt. in
the form of salary to treat patients.
He has turned down many offers
from private hospital till date.
In another incident, my father read
the newspaper and came across
story of road accident to a young
boy. He took down the boy’s ad-
dressfromthenewspaperandwent
to the boy’s house. Later, boy’s
leg had to be amputated and he
has resorted to begging after get-
ting better. When my father came
to know about the boy’s hearten-
ing story, he went to meet him
in his village and gave Rs 5000.
Apart from all this, he has helped
many people financially (accord-
ing to his capacity) when they
are in need. He is always con-
cerned about people’s suffering.
He, with much interest & con-
cern came forward asking for
my help in registering his organ
for donation. Finally I got him
registered for donating all his
organs and now he’s carrying
along the card wherever he goes.

It is very simple to be happy, but it is very difficult to be simple.
GOD: How to keep God happy?
Frankly speaking, I have no clear
idea about it. You may please re-
fer to other religious or spiritual
people or text to get enlightened
on this issue. In my limited un-
derstanding, I can only suggest
that we are doing our best to keep
the above five customers happy,
then the chances are God may re-
main happy with us. Still if you
want some ideas from me then I
would like to suggest the follow-
ing which I have heard from other
people and I do my best to prac-
tice them as much as I can:
“Nobody can do everything.
Everybody can do something.
if everybody starts doing what
they can then lot of things can be
done.”
1. Be Humble. I am told that the
only trait that God dislikes is “Ar-
rogance”. Please verify it with
some other source as well.
2. Be kind to other fellow be-
ings. Help as much as you can. I
think it also appeals to common
sense because it is very difficult
to remain peaceful in a turbulent
neighborhood.
3. Do good and forget.
4. Respect other’s religious/ spiri-
tual beliefs especially if they are
not hurting anyone.
5.Add positive value to world and
make it better than you inherited.
Why God Gives Pain and Suffer-
ing – one of the best explanations
that I have read.
Aman went to barber shop to have
his hair cut ad his beard trimmed.
As the barber began to work, they
began to have a good conversa-
tion. They talked about so many
things and various subjects. When
they eventually touched on the
subjects of God, the barber said:
“I don’t believe that GOD exists.”
“Why do you say that?” asked the
customer.
Barber said: “Well, you just have
to go out in the street to realize
that God doesn’t exist. Tell me,
if God exist, would there be so
many sick people? Would there
be abandoned children? If God
existed, there would be neither
suffering nor pain. I can’t imagine
a loving God who would allow all
these things.”
The customer thought for a mo-
ment, but didn’t respond because
he didn’t want to start an argu-
ment.
The barber finished his job and
the customer left the shop.
Just after he left the barbershop,
he saw a man in the street with
long, stringy, dirty hair and un-
trimmed beard.
He looked dirty and unkempt. The
customer turned back and entered
the barber shop again and he said
to the barber: “You know what?
Barbers do not exist.”
“How can you say that?” asked
the surprised barber.
“I am here, and I am a barber.And
I just worked on you.”
“No!” the customer exclaimed.
“Barbers don’t exist because if
they did, they would be no peo-
ple with long hair and untrimmed
beards, like that man outside.”
“Ah, but barbers Do exist! That’s
what happens when people do not
come to me.” “Exactly!” affirmed
the customer. “That’s the point!
God, too, DOES exist! That’s
what happens when people do
not go to HIM and don’t look to
Him for help. That’s why there’s
so much pain and suffering in the
world.”

Don’t just spend time, Make it - Mahak Vaish
O
nce I was traveling
by train where an old
couple was sitting on the
front berth. I was just noticing
and feeling so nice to see them
as they were really taking care
of each other so well. In the due
course of time from one station
a person named ‘Satish’ boarded
the train and sat next to them.
As usual as it was an Indian
train, so conversation started
between three of them. Satish
asked the couple a number of
questions like where they are
from, where they are going and
who all are there in the family
etc. The couple shared that
they have three sons and all are
married and well settled. None
of the children lives with them;
it’s been a week and not any
of them have even called. The
couple then continued that they
are staying in a rented room in
Delhi and serve themselves on
their own. When Satish heard
this he consoled the couple
saying, “Uncle, its 21st century,
children are not at all bothered
about parents, for them family
means their wife and kids. No
one has time to call, to talk and
sit. The only responsibility of
parent’s in today’s date is to
make them grow, make them
walk, feed them, educate them
and when they learn how to run,
they run away like this only”.
Satish has spent around two
hours and then he dropped down
at his own station saying to the
couple that “This is today’s
generation, I am telling you
Uncle”. Journey continued. The
couple looked sad. They were
saying to each other “shayad
humari hi parvarish mai koi
kami reh gayi hogi”. Saying
this they had tears in their
eyes. Suddenly a fellow named
“Bhaanu” boarded the train
from the same station and sat at
the same seat where Satish was
sitting. Seeing the couple crying
he asked “Is everything ok?”
The old man replied “Yes (must
be saying within, I don’t want
to share this now with anyone.)
He again asked, “Is everything
ok?” The old lady couldn’t resist
and erupted the last two hours
conversation. Bhaanu, listening
to that asked them, before a
week your children called you,
they answered ‘yes’, that’s good.
He asked when you make call to
them do they talk to you, they
answered ‘yes’, that’s very good.
He asked do they visit you often,
at least once in six months, they
said ‘yes’ that’s wow. He then
asked Uncle, “Uncle, are you
still working to live your life?”,
he answered “yes”, oh great, that
sounds so awesome, so aunty
stills cooks for you at this age
too, yes she does, Wow uncle
you are one lucky one. Uncle, I
have known children who don’t
even talk to their parents at all,
don’t visit them at all, at this age,
body lacks stamina and see, you
are such an inspiration, you are
lucky enough that aunty stills
makes yummy meals for you.
Aren’t you happy to get all this?
U
ncle and Aunty looked
at each other and
answered together,
“yes, we are happy”. They said,
“You are so true, reasons to get
upset are there but yes we do
have reasons to smile too, we
have each other, our love and
care .We will cherish this. We are
not complete in own self but yes
we complete each other. Bhaanu
said, “That’s so true, he smiled
and in the span of half an hour he
got off the train at his respective
station. Uncle and aunty were so
happy, now the tears of joy and
happiness was on their faces.
M
y Observation was, it
does not matter how
much time you are
giving to people, family, friends,
colleagues or even to a stranger;
what matters is what exactly you
are giving in that time. Satish
spent two hours and gave tears
and left with the old couple
worried, Bhaanu spent only half
an hour and gave smiles and
reasons to cherish.
