3. What is Diabetes?
Diabetes, often referred to by
doctors as diabetes mellitus,
diabetes is a Metabolism Disorder. It
is a disease that people get if they
eat too much sweets/sugar. When a
person’s quantity of glucose in the
blood is too elevated with diabetes
has a condition that is called
hyperglycemia. There are two types
of Diabetes.

4. Type 1
Diabetes
The body does not produce insulin. Some
people may refer to this type as insulin-
dependent diabetes, juvenile diabetes,
or early-onset diabetes. People usually
develop type 1 diabetes before their 40th
year, often in early adulthood or teenage
years.
Type 1 diabetes is nowhere near as
common as type 2 diabetes.
Approximately 10% of all diabetes cases
are type 1.

5. Type 2
Diabetes
The body does not produce enough insulin for proper
function, or the cells in the body do not react to insulin
(insulin resistance).
Approximately 90% of all cases of diabetes worldwide
are of this type. Overweight and obese people have a
much higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes
compared to those with a healthy body weight. People
with a lot of visceral fat, also known as central obesity,
belly fat, or abdominal obesity, are especially at risk.
Being overweight/obese causes the body to release
chemicals that can destabilize the body's
cardiovascular and metabolic systems.

6. What is insulin?
Insulin is the medicine that supports
peoplewho have diabetes. Insulin is
a hormone, produced by
the pancreas, which is central to
regulating
carbohydrate and fat metabolism in
the body. Insulin causes cells in
the liver, muscle, and fat tissue to
take up glucose from the blood,
storing it as glycogen inside these
tissues.

8. What is obesity?
An obese person has accumulated so
much body fat that it might have a
negative effect on their health. If a
person's bodyweight is at least 20%
higher than it should be, he or she is
considered obese. If your Body Mass
Index (BMI) is between 25 and 29.9 you
are considered overweight. If your BMI
is 30 or over you are considered o-b-e-
s-e.

11. What body system does obesity
afftect?
Almost every system from your skin. Yes, it
stretches and when and if you lose you
will have very saggy skin and it effects
your heart puts a lot of strain on it
and your cholecterol, blood
pressure, your joints like knees and ankles,
your mental outlook a lot of people are
depressed when they are obese, they
may not show it but they are. Your hair
and fingernails and not effected and that
is about it. Every system of the body is
stressed and it takes years of your life.
