(For Private Circulation Only)
From the Editor's Desk:
Hello Everybody!
Summer is here! So are holidays, IPL Cricket, FIFA World Cup and Board Exam Results!
Spending quality time with one's family is becoming non-negotiable! Balancing one's work and family life
is the order of the day!
Striving for excellence is challenging but definitely rewarding in the long run. We do share
stories of high achievers to motivate our children, don't we? Better still, why not be the best
in what you do and be a role model instead? Isn't that even more inspiring?
Think about it!
The challenge of work life balance in today's frenetically paced world is without question,
one of the most significant struggles faced by most of us. We are overwhelmed by the
day-to-day demands of our careers, families, constant tugging from cell phones, internet, a
sluggish economy etc.. We often feel there is not enough time in our lives to do the things
we need to do, let alone to do the things we want to do!
This concept of Work Life Balance is gaining popularity world wide. The expression was
first used in the late1970s to describe the balance between an individual's work and
personal life. In recent times, countries like Ire land and Hong Kong have earmarked a day
to raise awareness about this idea.
The meaning of work life balance may vary for each individual, but one aspect most people agree on is that
work life balance revolves around time.
Decide what comes first
Living a balanced life is about integrating components of your life that are

truly important to you and realizing that sometimes you need to make choices
about what has to come first.
Often, there is a myriad of excuses, the common one being, "I am not
disciplined enough." Perhaps it's not a discipline problem at all. The problem
is more often that the person has not yet sufficiency paid the price to get very
clear about what matters most to them.
By choosing what comes first, sometimes there are sacrifices. There will be
times when personal/family life and work collides but by knowing what's
really most important to you and making choices based on this criterion, you'll
be better able to balance your decisions.
Stay close to the shore with your commitments
Faced with too many options and too much pressure, we respond with too many "yes"s. Recognize that you
don't have to agree to everything and with everyone. Use your priority criteria to identify requests that simply aren't
worth your time.
Finding a balance in your life is an ongoing process. Life is in a constant state of change... a work in progress. Allow
yourself the time to regularly reassess the direction in which you are heading. Are you on track, or have you temporarily
derailed?

Indian Railways
Before 1947, there were South Indian Railway, Madras and southern Mahratta Railway, Great Indian Peninsula
Railway. Bombay Baroda and Central India Railway, Bars! Light Railway, OT Railway...likewise about 10 Private
Railway Companies operating all over India.
If you want to send a cargo to another part of the country, you could book the cargo in any nearby
railway booking station. The Railway Companies will split among themselves their share from the
total amount paid by making necessary book entries so that there is no headache for the customer
.
Before independence, road transportation was very thin. Even a single bundle booked in

Ways to stay cool this Summer ■<
Fill a spray bottle with water and keep in the refrigerator for a quick refreshing spray to your face after being outdoor.
Wear loose fitting , cotton clothes, preferable of a light colour
Avoid caffeine and alcohol as these will promote dehydration.
Drink plenty of fluids esp. cool drinks like tender coconut water, fruit juices <ind butter milk. J
To avoid getting sun-burnt, always wear a good sun-tan lotion.
Wear a cap, sunglasses or carry an umbrella while going out in the sun. V
/Take frequent head bath and dry your hair immediately - this will help prevent sweaty scalp that can breed dandruff.
Do not use commercially made ice as this is a potential carrier of diseases like jaundice and cholera.
Opt for a cool pillow of organic cotton. Put aside the latex/poly filled pillows during summer.
By opening the bottom of the window on the prevailing wind side of the house and opening the top of the window on the opposite
side of the house, you will draw the cooler air in at the bottom and let the hotter air out at the top.
Go for a short hair cut; for those who do not want to cut your hair, pin it up.
