2. Everyone Makes Mistakes
2 Samuel 11:1-3 (NKJV) 1It happened in the spring of
the year, at the time when kings go out to battle,
that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and
all Israel; and they destroyed the people of Ammon
and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at
Jerusalem. 2Then it happened one evening that
David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of
the king’s house. And from the roof he saw a
woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful
to behold. 3So David sent and inquired about the
woman. And someone said, “Is this not Bathsheba,
the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?”
3. Everyone Makes Mistakes
We use David as our choice of characters because
much of who David was and is correlates to us as
children of God. David was “chosen” like we are
and his “chosen-ness” has more to do with who he
was, not what he did. If this be true, then his
mistakes as well as our mistakes do not destroy our
“chosen” status, however; our mistakes do cause
damage, delays, and potentially death. As we look
at one of David’s more prominent mistakes, let’s
also look at ways that we can learn, grow, and
subsequently limit the mistakes that are available
for us to make.

David = “chosen”
Romans 15:4-7 (NKJV) 4For whatever things were
written before were written for our learning, that
we through the patience and comfort of the
Scriptures might have hope. 5Now may the God of
patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded
toward one another, according to Christ Jesus,
6
that you may with one mind and one mouth
glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ. 7Therefore receive one another, just as
Christ also received us, to the glory of God.
5. Everyone Makes Mistakes
Mistake – incorrect act or decision
an incorrect, unwise, or unfortunate act or
decision caused by bad judgment or a lack of
information or care
1. Is there another or better option?
2. Is this in the best interest of God and his other
children?
3. Based on the information available should I do
this?
4. What is the potential outcome or situation that
may present itself as a result of this action?

Notes de l'éditeur
David’s chosen-ness, circumstances, and choices were not totally consumed during his life, they are continually available for us to receive and use in our lives.
