Membership at COMETSA Friends and Supporters Club NPO includes being classified into various Professional and Geographic
Groups.
The geographic groups are mandatory. A member can only choose to belong to one Province, one Country, one Region, and one
Continent. There is no need to apply to be assigned to a geographic group. That is automatically triggered by the approval of the
membership application. For example, I am based in Gauteng Province. So, my first mandatory geographic group is Gauteng
Provincial Members (RSA) Group. My Province is found in the country, South Africa. Therefore, my second mandatory
geographic group is South Africa Country Members (RSA) Group. My country is in Southern Africa. My third mandatory
geographic group is Southern African Region Members Group. The region is found in the AFRICAN continent. My fourth and last
mandatory geographic group is Continental Africa Members Group.
My four mandatory geographic membership groups are
- Gauteng Provincial Members (RSA)
- South Africa Country Members (RSA)
- Southern African Region Members
- Continental Africa Members
That’s the minimum number of Groups that I should allocate myself to when applying for the membership or when updating my
group allocations online. These geographic groups are strategical in servicing our members and they must always be correct.
The other groups are referred to as Professional Associate Groups. These are the groups that members want to belong to over and
above minimum mandatory geographic groups. They represent members’ areas of profession and/or specialization, or career they
are in. They are qualified academically, by virtue of their experience, credentialing, or accreditation. They are not their areas of
interest or desire, and they cannot just allocate themselves to these groups.
