Base Stations and Wireless Networks—Radiofrequency (RF) Exposures and Health Consequences Valberg et al., Environmental Health Perspectives, 115(3):416–424, March 2007.
Some people believe that there is little research and many unknowns. However, the first studies of radio signals and health began before the second World War. Many of the first studies used radar equioment but since the 1990s there are many studies of the radio signals used for mobile technologies and health. There are also many expert groups that have examined this evidence. On our website we list more than 100 such reports since the late 1970s by public health agencies, researchers and the WHO. These are not single experiments but reports that have weighed all the available studies.
The World Health Organization recognises that this is a complex issue mixing science, policy and communication. For this reason the use this triangle to explain the best way to respond to public concern. For Evidence: the WHO has identified exposure levels that provide protection against all established health risks and keeps the topic under review. For Policy: the WHO recommends that governments adopt the international exposure guidelines and that an agency assess compliance. For Concern: the WHO recommends clear communication by trusted agencies so that myths can be dispelled and accurate information be made available to the public.
