Conference Highlights:
In the coming years, the number of Canadians diagnosed
with dementia is set to dramatically increase – placing an ever
greater strain on services and quality of care. The Alzheimer
Society of Canada estimates that the number of those
diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, a form of dementia, will increase
from 747,000 in 2011, to 1.4 million by 2031. If action is not
taken now, the Society estimates that this growth will result
in health care costs of $293 billion a year by 2041. Numbers
such as these underscore the fact that dementia has emerged
as one of the most pressing issues facing governments,
long-term care providers and health care professionals
across the province and country.
Insight Information’s National Conference on Dementia Care
has been developed to be a catalyst for dialogue, innovation
and collaboration. The event brings together actors from
both the public and private spheres to discuss and discover
solutions to a growing demand for care. Featuring keynote
speeches, panel discussions and interactive Q&A’s, the National
Conference on Dementia Care offers those invested in the
area an opportunity to connect with some of the sector’s leading
