5. Project Overview
Arizona Renewable Fuels, to be developed by Syn Tawa Energy, LLC, will be one of the first commercial scale
renewable energy refinery plants in the United States. Even more notable, this plant will be able to combine a
newly-patented, state-of-the-art, commercial-scale biomass wood gasifier with a highly efficient patented gas-
to-diesel conversion system. The output is a premium quality ASTM D975 diesel fuel that generates zero
emissions and no sulfur -- at a cost below petroleum-based diesel fuels. AZRF will efficiently convert green
landfill waste into transportation fuel while supporting this nation’s policy for energy independence and a

This plant will have the capacity to produce up to 27+ million gallons of Renewable Diesel per year.

• The Arizona Renewable Fuels Project and its suppliers project to generate approximately $77.8M of total
economic output for Arizona in 2017.
• This single plant is projected to support approximately 348 jobs and generate $20.1M in wages annually
while contributing $2.2M in Federal taxes and $1.9M in Arizona state taxes each year.
• A single STE plant is projected to represent approximately 6% of Arizona’s 2014 renewable fuel sector.

Energy Security and Balance
• Reduces dependence on foreign oil.
• Substitutes for or extends supplies of traditional petroleum diesel.
Air Quality
 Reduces greenhouse gas emissions up to 90% when compared to petroleum diesel.
 Significantly improves air quality while reducing harmful particulate matter (PM) and oxides of nitrogen
(NOx) pollution without sulfur.
Engine Operation
 Provides very similar horsepower, torque and fuel mileage as compared to petroleum diesel fuel.
 Increases cetane which aids self-ignition of fuel and allows for easier starting, smoother running engines
and reliable operation.
 Allows use in low temperatures without causing filter clogging due to very low cloud point.
 Produces ideal lubricity, required for the protection of the fuel injection systems.
Safety
 Causes far less damage than petroleum diesel if spilled or released to the environment.
 It is safer than petroleum diesel because it is less combustible.

8. Pre-Engineering Loan Opportunity

• Syn Tawa is seeking up to $250,000 in unsecured loans to be used for Pre-Engineering Operations
including costs for legal retainers, administrative fees, land commitment costs and finalization of
contracts with the list of desired strategic companies, in order to begin a Final Design and Engineering
Study (“FEED 3”). This study will advance the Project to shovel-ready status. This study, commonly
known as the Feasibility Study, is a requirement for Project Funding.
• Minimum Investment is $5,000.
• Permanent Project Financing is anticipated to be completed by Q3, 2016, which will repay the Pre-
Engineering Loans at the end of their term.
• The Loan will earn 12% interest over a 12 month term.

– Currently Located at the Northeast corner of Eleven Mile Corner
Road and Milligan Road, Pinal County, Eloy, Arizona. (Sites are
being considered in Greater Phoenix due to transportation costs).
– Positioned halfway between Phoenix and Tucson.
– Offers frontage and direct access to I 10.
– Provides potential access to Union Pacific rail service.

– Flat topography with a recessed feedstock storage area.

• Supports Refiners In Addressing Other Legal Mandates:
- Generates Carbon Credits Worth an Estimated $417 Million over the Project Life.
- In 2015, California’s Cap-and-Trade program will extend to additional regulated entities that include
refiners and fuel distributors, requiring those entities to hold enough emission allowances to cover
their emissions profile.
- California Governor Brown, in his January 2015 inaugural address, called for an expansion of the
State’s renewable energy goals to 50% by 2030, along with cutting in half the petroleum used by
cars and trucks in the state. This initiative implies a shrinking California market for petroleum
based fuels.
- Qualifies for California LCFS Credits that could help offset any of refiner’s Compliance Liabilities.
- Qualifies for Blender Credits if reinstated by Congress that could help offset any of refiner’s
Compliance Liabilities.
• Provides refiner a superior cellulosic renewable fuel option.

Patrick Sweeney, Founder & CEO
Over the past 30 years, Mr. Sweeney has held leadership positions in sales, marketing, finance, business
development and operations for leading technology and finance companies ranging from IBM, the Meridian
Group, StorageTek Global Services, Xerox Global Services and Vice President of Research & Technology for a
non-profit national trade association. He is Six Sigma certified. Mr. Sweeney holds a Bachelor’s of Science
and Commerce degree in Marketing from Santa Clara University. After graduation, he served our country as
an officer in the United States Marine Corps.
Jack Gilmore, Co-Founder, Director of Project Development
The majority of Mr. Gilmore’s professional experience has dealt with developer-oriented land planning and
landscape architectural design services. Projects range from large master planned communities and golf
courses to mixed use commercial, office, and industrial parks. As a registered Landscape Architect he has
dealt with the design and preparation of construction documents for projects ranging from desert restoration
to large campus landscapes and community parks.

James Leahy, Gas to Liquids (GTL) Project Advisor
Mr. Leahy has extensive experience in process development, project management, and process plant
technical support in the petrochemical and synthetic fuels industries. He received his Bachelor of Science in
Chemical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1969 and Master of Science in Chemical
Engineering from University of Houston in 1973. Mr. Leahy joined Shell Chemical Company in 1969 as a
process engineer. From 1974 to 1975 he worked as a process engineer for M.W. Kellogg Company. Mr. Leahy
joined ARCO Chemical Company and served as Chief Process Engineer from 1976 to 1989, Engineering &
Construction Manager from 1990 to 1997 and Project Manager from 1997 to 1999. From 2000 to 2007, he
was Director, Special Projects at Syntroleum Corporation where he developed gas-to-liquids and coal-to-
liquids processes. From 2008 to 2011, Mr. Leahy was Engineering Manager for Australian American Energy
Company and managed various coal-to-liquids studies and projects. He is the holder of six patents in the field
of synfuels.

Dr. Robert Freeks, Fischer-Tropsch (FT) Synthetic Fuels Development Project Advisor
Dr. Freerks has over 25 years of experience in the formulation and development of FT synthetic fuels,
synthetic lubricants, oil-based lubricants, oil and fuel additive packages and biofuels. From 1999 through
2006, Dr. Freerks was the Director of Product Development at Syntroleum Corporation in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
While at this position, he developed synthetic jet fuel produced via the FT synthesis and hydroprocessing
technology. He worked closely with the Department of Defense to qualify the fuel for military aircraft and
equipment under the JBUFF program (Joint Battlespace Use Fuel of the Future). While at his previous
position, Dr. Freerks also conducted an extensive testing and development program under a Department of
Energy contract. This program successfully demonstrated FT synthetic fuels performance in Diesel engines
run under laboratory and field conditions. Additionally, from 1981 until 1999, Dr. Freerks was employed by
Chevron Research and Technology Company where he developed and formulated several lines of heavy duty
diesel products, base oils, additive packages and synthetic lubricants.
