2. Every year thousands of people
struggling with their finances
approach debt management
companies for help with their
debts. They pay huge fees for
debt solutions, such as a Debt
Management Plans – a service that
they could get elsewhere for free.
You should NEVER have to
pay for help with debt
You can get help from charities
and other not-for-profit
organisations. Advice is
Independent and Impartial and
the Help and Assistance you will
get is Free.
No Fees. No Sales Pitch. And
every penny you pay goes towards
reducing your debt.
The Right Kind of Help
The first thing you should do when
you find yourself in debt is very
simple:
Don’t Panic
You can get help but hasty action
could put you in a much worse
situation.
There are many commercial
companies who will offer a solution
to your problem, but the option
they put forward may not be the
best one for you – especially if it a
big chunk of your money is going
to go on fees.
You need to take proper
independent advice from someone
who has your best interests at
heart.
Getting Advice
There are plenty of places you can
get free and independent advice:
Citizens Advice
Your local CAB will go through
your situation and identify which
options could work for you. This
could be bankruptcy, a Debt
Management Plan, IVA or a DRO.
They won’t pressure you into a
particular option, but they will
make sure you understand the
pros and cons, support you to
take action or refer you to an
organisation that can help.
