Duties Construction Manager on the decommissioning of the Proscar pharmaceutical facility. Bailey Gomm are
the principal contractor and there are three main subcontractors involved in the decommissioning works. Namely
Tolent doing the Civil and Building Demolitions, Electron doing the electrical strip out and Abtek removing the
Mechanical Equipment. All potentially contaminated demolition material has to be swabbed and certified clean
before disposal. All persons entering the contaminated area must wear double Tyvek Suits, air hoods and and
respirators

Duties Employed by BT Bell Consulting Engineers to carry out countrywide structural assessments of all the
quarries and ready-mix plants belonging to Hope Construction Materials.

Position Civil Project Manager for Civil Works Phase 1 on Western Link Interconnector at Hunterston, North
Ayrshire
Duties I was responsible for the discharge of secondary planning conditions, through design development,
tendering and delivery of the £35M Hunterston Civil work elements of the £1.1Billion HVDC Western Link
between Hunterston in North Ayrshire and Flintshire Bridge in North Wales. This was the biggest contract that
National Grid had ever let and was also the biggest contract that Siemens had ever undertaken.

Briefly my job was to:-

Duties I was engaged three sister projects in Norwich.
These are a 132KV GIS Building at Earlham 132KV Substation, a 132KV AIS at Norwich Main and the
introduction of some 132KV HIS at Norwich Trowse.
The total value of all three projects was £20M.The client was UK Power Networks (until recently EDF) and the
contracts are being carried out under the NEC Contract.
The quality was commended by the client and the projects were delivered on time and under budget.

Power Energy Networks. It was an AIS substation and comprised a Control Building and various equipment

Duties were to take projects from inception, through planning approval where necessary, formulation of client
design, specification, and the health and safety plan, followed by the tendering process and finally construction.
Principal projects included two warehouses of £4.75M and £1M value. In additional there were a multitude of
minor projects. Responsible for liaising between the contractor and various operational departments within NM-
UK in the ongoing design and drawing approval process. Duties included budgetary control, valuations and

Position Resident Engineer
Duties Contracted by WSP to oversee the successful demolition of Westgate House in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Westgate House was an eleven-story concrete framed building that bridged one of the principal thoroughfares in
Newcastle. On account of its’ location the method of demolition had to be very closely controlled to avoid
accidents, damage to adjacent listed buildings, and also traffic disruption.

Position Supervisor
Duties Contracted by WA Fairhurst to act as Supervisor, as defined under the ECC Contract, for Howdon
Viaduct Refurbishment (£1.8M). Howdon Viaduct is a 200m long, 7 span wrought iron railway viaduct, built in
the early 1800s. In 1981 it was strengthened and repainted immediately before the Metro opened, and this was its’
current functionat that time.
The scope of works comprised metalwork repairs, the blasting and repainting of the entire structure, masonry
repairs, and graffiti removal. All work was subject to Listed Building Consent. Method statements had to be
submitted and approved by both WA Fairhurst and North Tyneside Council.

Position Resident Engineer / Architect’s Representative
Duties Initially I was contracted by WSP as R.E overseeing the groundworks & superstructure of this £4.8M
swimming pool. The pool was built as an extension to the Louisa Leisure Centre on the steeply sloping site of the
former pit in Stanley, Co., Co. Durham. Works comprised concrete foundations & water retaining structures and
steel frames on flight-augured piles. Latterly from Sept. 2002, I was hired by LA Architects fulfilling a follow-on
role as Architect’s Site Representative for the remainder of the building & high quality finishing works including
extensive tiled & non-hygroscopic wall finishes.
