2. Every major consumer brand has a digital portfolio today. For
B2B brands, digitally-enhanced services and experiences are
must-dos.
By 2020, half of the A1000 will see the majority of their
business depend on their ability to create digitally-enhanced
products, services, and experiences.
3. By 2020, ¼ of the C-level business executives in A1000
companies will have spent at least 3 years of their career in a
technology leadership role.
While only 9% of organizations have an effective DX organizational
model, companies are actively seeking the DX dream team to
accelerate their competitive positioning in the DX economy.
4. By 2019, 70% of CIOs will recognize the limitations of traditional IT
and embrace a leadership approach that embodies a virtuous
cycle of innovation. (L3D)
While we are not there yet numbers-wise, DX is a team sport and most CIOs recognize the
importance of collaborating actively with their LoB peers to stay relevant. This
collaboration requires them to embrace an all-encompassing leadership approach where
speed, scale, and stability are executed well.
5. By 2020, 40% of digital transformation initiatives will be supported by
cognitive/AI capabilities, providing critical on-time insights for new
operating and monetization models.
AI today is a 3-horse race among the US, China, and Japan. 2 of the 3 are in
the Asia/Pacific region and China is expected to out-spend everyone else
by 2030, hence we can expect this to be achieved earlier.
6. By the end of 2019, revenue growth from information-based products
will be double that of the rest of the product/service portfolio for 1/3 of
A1000 companies.
Top brands in Asia/Pacific are increasingly experimenting on both data
monetization models as well as creating new portfolios linked to
information via IoT and/or AI capabilities.
7. In 2017, 30% of consumer-facing A1000 companies will
experiment with AR/VR as part of their marketing
efforts.
The most cutting-edge brands are already exploring mixed
reality engagement models. By the end of 2017, this is likely to
reach 60%.
8. By 2019, 65% of IT organizations will create new customer-
facing and ecosystem-facing services to meet the business DX
needs.
APIs are the main driver here. We are not there yet but the market
is growing very quickly.
9. By 2018, the number of industry collaborative clouds will triple to
more than 150. By 2020, over 50% of the A500 will be digital
services suppliers through ICCs.
We are definitely on the right track with a growing pool of Asian organizations jumping onto
this bandwagon. We are on our way to achieving this milestone. Some of the examples in the
region include Ping An Direct, Westfield Retail, New South Wales Transportation, and Virtual
Singapore.
10. By 2020, nearly 20% of operational processes will be self-healing and
self-learning, minimizing the need for human intervention or
adjustments.
Automation is one of the hottest trends in the region for 2017. According to
IDC Asia/Pacific’s latest C-Suite Barometer, operating model DX is the highest
priority due to the focus on self-learning and healing.
11. By 2019, 60% of CIOs will help drive risk portfolios that enable adaptive
responses to security, compliance, business, or catastrophic threats.
Digital trust is a growing priority among organizations and their CISOs. The top 3 challenges
today are compliance/audit, IoT security, and employee IT awareness. More CIOs are
pushing for the balancing act between innovation (a signature element of DX) and security.
It is not an either-or option.
12. 8 out of 10 accurately-predicted on the future of ICT.
