1. PITCH
It measures 40 meters long and 20 wide. In the picture below you can observe each of
the measures and names of the parts of the field.
2. GOALS
The hollow interior (where you must enter the ball to score a goal) measures two meters
high and three wide.
3. BALL
It is the only material that is needed to play handball. It is
made of leather or synthetic material. For the senior
category (adults) has the following measures:
- Men: weighing between 425 and 475 grams, and a
circumference of between 58 and 60 centimeters.
- Women: weighing between 325 and 400 grams and a
circumference ranging between 54 and 56 centimeters.

4. DURATION OF THE MATCH
Two parts of 30 minutes, with 10 minutes of rest between them. Restarting the game the
teams change their side of the field, so now attacking the goal defended before and vice
versa.
5. PLAYERS
Each team consists of twelve players, seven in the field (one goalkeeper) and five
substitutes on the bench. Players have specific positions of attack and defense.
5.1. In attack:
-Portero: The player defending team's goal. He is the only player who can step on the
area of your computer and, within this, hit the ball with any part of his body. If you
leave your area becomes a normal player.
-Extremos: Are located near the corners of the field (where the line of band together and
background). They are very fast players, with great jumping ability and great technical
resources. In figure 1 are those with the letters "D" and "F".
-Laterales: Play near the sideline and near the line of 9 meters (dashed). Often high and
very powerful players launch. In figure 1 are represented by the letters "A" and "C".
-Pivote: Play right on the edge of the area, usually
back to goal to see his teammates and get the ball
more comfortably. They are usually very strong
and burly players. In figure 1 are represented by
the letter "E".
-Central: Center of the field at about the height of
the line of 9 meters. It is the player who organizes
the team's attack and distributes the game. Must
be a player with great tactical vision, high
decisiveness and excellent technique. In the
drawing 1 is represented by the letter "B". Figura 1: situación de los jugadores en ataque (sistema 3:3).

5.2. In Defence:
-Outdoors Left (number 2 in the drawing): generally corresponds with players attacking
at the ends.
-Defence Left side (number 3 in the
drawing): generally corresponds to
the left side in attack.
-Defence Left center (number 4 in
the drawing): generally corresponds
to the pivot attack.
-Defence Right center (number 5 in
the drawing): generally corresponds
to the pivot attack. right side
defense (No. 6 in the drawing):
generally corresponds to the right
side in attack.
-Outdoors Right (number 7 in the drawing): generally corresponds to the right edge in
attack.
5.3. Defensive variant: System 5: 1. Is that five of the defending players make a
defense line against the area in a semicircle, while one of the defenders (usually the
player in attack plays central) is a little more advanced (line 11 meters) trying "destroy"
game creation opposing team.

6. SANCTIONS
The regulation distinguishes between two types of penalties: the technical and
disciplinary.
6.1. Sanctions techniques:
-Steps: They occur when the player holding the ball takes more than four consecutive
supports without dribbling the ball (which means a maximum of three steps). In this
case the team possession changes, putting the ball into play at the same place where the
offense was committed. In the following video you can see examples of failures steps:
- Doubles: namely that a player holds the ball infringement, boat, catch again and again
throw (same concept as in basketball). It is sanctioned with the loss of possession,
starting the game the opposing team from the place where the offense was committed.
- Goal kick when the ball comes from the sideline (the longest parallel sides of the
rectangle lateral counterparts game-lines), possession becomes for the opposing team
the last player to have touched the ball. Such equipment will put the ball in play from
the place of the line by which he came out, and for this the player taking the throw will
be treading the sideline with his foot. Exception: When the goalie makes a clearance
leaves the field for the bottom line, the ball becomes the other team but the same
goalkeeper puts it into play with a throw in your area.
-Circulation Inside: each area can only be trodden by the goalkeeper of the defending
team, within which can touch the ball with all parts of your body. Players may not step
on any area to get open or launch; if they do they are foul. If allowed attackers jump
from outside the area and launch being inside, but in the air without touching the ground
while having the ball in his hands (yes you can play after making the launch).
- Interior defense: if a player defends an attacker from inside the box is punishable by a
penalty.
- Penalty (7 meters) is the maximum penalty that applies to the defending team to
prevent illegally, the culmination of a clear goalscoring opportunity (regardless of
where the field in which it occurs). It is implementation of a release from the 7-meter
line with the only opposition rival goalkeeper (which can go up to the line of 4 meters
within your area). It is important that, once given the command of the referee, the player
does not lift the foot that is more advanced, because otherwise the play is invalidated.
Note: also punished with a penalty performing a pass to our own by tro when it is within

your area. When the goalkeeper leaves the area becomes a "normal" player and yes it
can happen.
- Free-throw: it is called to kick a free kick to put the ball in play when the opposing
team has committed an offense. It is made from the place where it was committed and
defenders must move away at least 3 meters. If the missing had been committed closer
to the goal than the 11 meters, the ball will be removed from the line of 11 meters
(dashed) and players will be located right on the edge of the area.
- Passive: when a team of apparent resignation to make a pitch so that "over time" so be
penalized with "passive" and the ball will go to the possession of the opposing team. In
this case, the referees first notified raising a hand that if the team does not release
immediately lose possession.
6.2. Disciplinary sanctions
- Warning: The referee shows a yellow card to a player for making a clearly offside
missing. A player does not receive more than one yellow card and it is normal that a
team does not receive more than two or three cards (always at the beginning of the
game).
- Exclusion: when the player has an unsportsmanlike conduct is punished with two-
minute suspension from the game (must be on the bench and this time your team plays
with one less player).
- Disqualification: Occurs when a player is excluded three times, unable to return to
play in the remainder of the game. Your team can recover equal numbers passing two
minutes of exclusion.
- Expulsion occurs to very serious infringements. The referee shows a red card to the
player, who may not play again in the remainder of the game and his team must play the
rest of the match with one less player.
