2. Summary
•The team focused on how untimely patients
report delivery has affected the reputation of
the organization
•We have devised several strategies that can
be used to defuse the problem
•We have also come up with the best
leadership style to apply in the situation for
better outcomes
3. Introduction
• The healthcare industry is riddled with a lot of uncertainties.
• It is the work of each healthcare center that the patients get
treated and satisfied with how their problems have been
handled.
• However, there is a delay that is sometimes experienced on
the report of the patients
• Despite it being out of the control of nurses, the bulk falls on
them in most cases.
(Busse et al., 2019)
4. Introdution… Cont
•Some of the reasons that might bring about
this challenge is:
•Depletion of lab reagents in the healthcare
•Emergencies of the healthcare workers
involved in the process
•Data analysis hiccups
5. Decision Model
Rational decision-making model
• Define the problem
• Identify the criteria to judge possible solutions and
decide how important each is
• Generate a list of possible alternatives and Evaluate
them
• Determine the best solution
(Burkhardt et al., 2016)
6. Decision Model Cont…
Vroom-Yetton Decision-Making Model
•No ideal decision-making process.
•The model uses seven yes and no
questions.
•They act as the guide to the final
decision.
7. Leadership and Managerial Competencies
• Decision making that is evidence-informed
• Skilled operations
• Skillful administration and resource
management
• Communication skills to use both to the other
staff and the patients
(Weiss et al., 2019)
8. Leadership Theory
• Contingency theory seems best fit in this situation.
• A nurse here will act on the situation according to
what the prevailing situation demands.
• Transformational leadership style works best in this
industry(Fischer, 2016) .
• Here, it will aid in winning the trust of the patient
through the relationship created by the nurse.
9. Patient's Perception
• Efficiency is one of the measures that patients use to
determine the level of quality service being
rendered.
• Delay in bringing back the report of the patient
might affect negatively what the patient thinks of
the organization's quality level.
• Nurses are, in most cases, the receivers of the
frustrations
10. Team's Strategies
•The problem is multifaceted
•However, rational decision making can
be applied
•Finding the root cause of the problem
will help in identifying the best way out
(Burkhardt et al., 2016)
11. Conclusion
• A lot of uncertainties riddles the healthcare
industry.
• The healthcare center should work towards
removing the danger of these from affecting them.
• A nurse, upon whom most of the bulk work from
patients lies must have both leadership and
managerial skills to handle the prevailing
situations.

Notes de l'éditeur
When a patient steps into the hands of a healthcare practitioner, every activity that will be to be done subsequently is subjected to quality scrutiny. Nurses interact with patients on a closer basis than other health workers, and they act as intermediaries. In most cases, they receive the bulk that otherwise cannot be carried by anyone else. On the aspect of patients report timeliness, they receive frustrations from the patient if the process is not sufficient.
All these are factors beyond the control of the nurse who is interacting with the patient daily. It may be hard for the patient to understand the position of the nurse on the matter. The perception derived from the delayed process may be damaging on the healthcare center.
The rational decision-making model is best used in this situation because of the nature of the problem. This model is recommended for a team. Having all the information at hand, the model directs to the best alternative for handling problems. The other model that can be suitable for this is the Vroom-Yetton decision-making model. It uses seven yes and no questions, which help create a guide for the best way forward.
Leadership and managerial competencies are critical to successful nursing practice. This is because they act as tools in the toolbox of the health practitioner. When held by all the leaders and managers serving in their different capacities, the organization's success is inevitable, especially when combined with proper and timely deployment.
Contingency theory was modeled to explain how different situations can prevail in a single setting, provoking different approaches to solving a problem to surface. In addition, this theory can go hand in hand with the transformational leadership style, which is the future of the nursing practice. It embraces the fact that relationships are of importance.
The healthcare center desires to ensure that all the patients go back to their homes satisfied by their services. However, due to unavoidable circumstances, sometimes this is not always the case. Here, a delay may be experienced due to depletion of lab reagents, emergencies on the side of the healthcare workers involved in the process, and data retrieval challenges. If the case is not handled well, the patient may respond negatively, thus hurting the organization's reputation.
Since the problem is multidimensional, an approach that deals with the main reason why the problem surfaced will work best. The rational decision-making model promises to deal with issues exhaustively as it applies the principle of problem dissecting properly.
