2. the main objective of this project is to develop a home automation system using an arduino board controlled
by any device. as technology is advancing so houses are also getting smarter. modern houses are gradually
shifting from conventional switches to centralized control system, involving remote controlled switches.
presently, conventional wall switches located in different parts of the house makes it difficult for the user to
go near them to operate. even more it becomes more difficult for the elderly or physically handicapped
people to do so. remote controlled home automation system provides a most modern solution
ABSTRACT
3. nowadays, we have remote controls for our television sets and other electronic systems, which
have made our lives real easy. have you ever wondered about home automation which would
give the facility of controlling tube lights, fans and other electrical appliances at home using a
remote control? off-course, yes! but, are the available options cost-effective? if the answer is
no, we have found a solution to it. we have come up with a new system called arduino based
home automation using bluetooth. this system is super-cost effective and can give the user, the
ability to control any electronic device without even spending for a control. this project helps
the user to control all the electronic devices.
INTRODUCTION
4. Existing system
• Early home automation began with labor-saving machines. Self-contained electric or
gas powered home appliances became viable in the 1900s with the introduction
of electric power distribution[3] and led to the introduction of washing
machines, water heaters , refrigerators , sewing machines, dishwashers, and clothes
dryers.
• the first general purpose home automation network technology, X10, was
developed. It is a communication protocol for electronic devices. It primarily
uses electric power transmission wiring for signalling and control, where the signals
involve brief radio frequency bursts of digital data, and remains the most widely
available. By 1978, X10 products included a 16 channel command console, a lamp
module, and an appliance module. Soon after came the wall switch module and the
first X10 timer.
5. DISADVANTAGE
Cost of Intelligence
Potential security issues
As with all things that connect to the internet, you run
the risk of security issues. This is true of whatever smart home
automation system you have. However, protecting yourself is
relatively straightforward. And yes, that involves changing
your password.
10. PROGRAMMING IN ARDUINO
● once connected our devices in Arduino
board then we need to insert program in that board through
Arduino IDE
● In that program we write code to when the
power supply is supplied to which Pins
● after completing then finally we insert that
program in Arduino board .
12. ADVANTAGE
Home automation increases safety and security
Home automation can save energy
Maximizing home security.
Increased energy efficiency
Remote control of home functions
Managing all of your home devices from one place
15. Connecting python program to Arduino UNO
Our python program is connected to Arduino by
using the module named “ pyfirmata ” .
16. Conclusion
The home automation system has been experimentally proven
to work satisfactorily by connecting sample appliances to it and
the appliances were successfully controlled from a computer or
laptop. We learned many skills such as soldering, wiring the
circuit and other tools that we use for this project and was able
to work together as a team during this project
