13. Moses was keeping the flock
of his father-in-law Jethro,
the priest of Midian; he led
his flock beyond the
wilderness, and came to
Horeb, the mountain of God.
There the angel of the Lord
appeared to him in a flame of
fire out of a bush; he looked,
and the bush was blazing,
yet it was not consumed.
14. Then Moses said, “I must turn
aside and look at this great
sight, and see why the bush is
not burned up.” When the Lord
saw that he had turned aside to
see, God called to him out of
the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And
he said, “Here I am.” Then he
said, “Come no closer!
Remove the sandals from your
feet, for the place on which you
are standing is holy ground.”
15. He said further, “I am the
God of your father, the
God of Abraham, the God
of Isaac, and the God of
Jacob.” And Moses hid his
face, for he was afraid to
look at God.

16. Point of Reflection:
When an administrator, a staff, a school
nurse, a guidance counselor, a
professor or a teacher stands before a
co-teacher, a staff, a student or a parent
or a co-worker, God is also present and
the ground that he or she is standing is
Holy Ground.
17. God called to Moses out of the
bush: "Moses, Moses!" And he
said, "Here I am." "Come no
closer," God said. "Remove the
sandals from your feet, for the
place on which you are standing
is holy ground."
EXODUS 3:4-5

22. We reverently touch and are touched by the hearts of the
people around us, the dwelling place of the living God.
This is spirituality of our profession this is the ground of
the practice of our nurturing and teaching profession, this
is holy ground!
23. So the holy ground we are
called to enter…. maybe
difficult, challenging, we may
face suffering, fear,
communication barriers,
prejudices, impossible
working conditions and
constant obstacles. Though at
times we feel inadequate and
defeated… God is with us
and offering us His peace.
24. This is the gift and the
grace of our Lasallian
vocation “of standing
in holy ground”. This
is the blessing, the
precious knowledge
that, however great or
small our task may be,
God is with us and will
give us His peace.
25. We stand before you,
Holy Spirit, conscious
of our sinfulness, but
aware that we gather
in your name.
Come to us, remain
with us, and enlighten
our hearts.
26. Give us light
and strength to
know your will,
to make it our
own, and to
live it in our
lives.
27. Guide us by your
wisdom, support
us by your
power, for you
are God, sharing
the glory of
Father and Son.

for all; enable us to
uphold the rights of
others; do not allow
us to be misled by
ignorance or
corrupted by fear or
favor.
29. Unite us to
yourself in the
bond of love
and keep us
faithful to all
that is true.
30. As we gather in your
name, may we temper
justice with love, so that
all our discussions and
reflections may be
pleasing to you, and
earn the reward
promised to good and
faithful servants.
31. We ask this of
You who live and
reign with the
Father and the
Son, one God,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
32. Gathering our prayers and praises into one let us
pray to the Father in the words our Lord taught us:
Our Father in Heaven…. .
33. Let us pray.
Almighty, ever-living God, make our
hearts more open to your love in these
days of Eastertide, when you have
made known to us the depth of that
love. You have rescued us from the
darkness of error: make us adhere more
firmly to the teachings of your truth.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your
Son, who lives and reigns with you and
the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and
ever.
Amen.
