3. APM Introductory Certificate
Overview:
The APM Introductory Certificate in Project Management offers a fundamental awareness
of project management terminology and provides a broad understanding of the principles
of the profession.
Audience:
Those staff who have an interest in project management but may not yet be committed to
project management as their professional route. This would include: Staff running projects in
the business, Project Administrators, PMO Coordinators, Business Analysts, Change
Managers
Assessment:
Assesses the key elements of the project management lifecycle and covers 27 knowledge
areas from the APM Body of Knowledge including planning and scheduling, communication,
teamwork, resource management, project risk management and project reviews. Assessment
is through a 60 question, multiple choice examination, taken over 1 hour.
Outcomes:
Successful candidates will be able to understand the language of project management
and will be able to take an active part in a project team and make a positive contribution
to any project environment. Delegates will be prepared to take the Introductory
Certificate in Project Management exam at the end of this course.
4. Delivery options
Traditional fastrack: A two day classroom based course with exam at the
end of day two.
Distance learning: Most of the preparation is carried out using carefully
prepared distance learning materials. CITI provides a study pack that
contains a study guide, mock exam questions generator and solution notes
via a secure access. Participants sit the multiple choice exams on an
agreed date.
Blended learning: This version has the distance learning component as
above with the addition of a morning review with the tutor in a classroom
setting, where the material is reviewed as a group for final practice and
study, concentrating on areas of weakness, before sitting the multiple choice
exam in the afternoon.

6. Association for Project Management
The Association for Project Management is the
UK professional body which aims to develop and
promote the professional disciplines of project
management and programme management, through
a programme called the "Five Dimensions of
Professionalism".
APM Qualifications are designed with the intention
of demonstrating to employers, clients and suppliers
that the recipient is a skilled and committed project
professional.
Through alignment with IPMA's 4 level Certification
programme they also aim to provide international
recognition. APM currently has over 19 000
individual members and 500 corporate members.

The APM Introductory Certificate in Project Management offers a

profession.

APMP APMP is a knowledge based qualification that allows candidates to
demonstrate knowledge of all elements of project management.
Candidates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of how these
elements interact and how their project fits into their strategic and
commercial environment. APMP is a qualification recognised both
nationally and internationally giving candidates a qualification that can
be carried from one job to another or from one industry to another.
Typically offered as a 4 day
course. Other approaches

Assessment: A three hour paper
where candidates must answer
ten from sixteen questions derived
from all 37 syllabus topics.
