  1. 1. Children’s Programs July 2019 Summer Reading Club Launch Party (0-12) Join us at the Farmer's Market to celebrate the Launch of our annual TD Summer Reading Club! Register for Summer Reading Club, enjoy a sweet treat, try out our scavenger hunt and play at the bouncy castle! The following community vendors will join in the fun with family friendly activities: Pickering Fire Services, EarlyON, WindReach Farm, OPG and Durham Public Health Tuesday July 2, 10:30 am - 2 pm Farmers’ Market ®WindReach Farm Visits PPL! (6-12) Come meet the animals of WindReach Farm. Interact with them and learn all about the farm at the library! Wednesday July 17, 1:30-2:30 pm Central Library - Outside ®True North Science – Presented by: Mad Science (6- 12) Join Mad Science for an energetic tour of Canadian science! Beginning in our snowy Northern Territories we'll discover how animals and humans have adapted and invented their way to survival in cold weather. Junior scientists will conduct amazing chemical reactions, discover the secrets behind a sliding hockey puck, build and test a working Canadarm model, and try out some modern Foley artist tricks of the trade. Our workshop will finish with a celebratory Mini Fireworks display, and each child will create a Canadian Snowball in a cup to bring home. Caring for a loved one can bring about stress and challenge one's wellness. In this program, you will learn tips to avoid caregiver burnout! Attendees will learn about available resources and coping strategies, as well as network with other local caregivers.
